Tools and Hardware Reviews of Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite Earplugs no Cords (200 ct)Customer Review: Great Summary: 5 Stars
I really like these. I tried just about every single retail earplug. I work nights and sleep in a room opposing a TV that's playing the whole time I am sleeping (a really annoying muffled sound). I am also a side sleeper.
I found these to be the best and most comfortable. One way I know that is because I can sleep 10+ hours continuously and wake up with no ear pains at all. Also if the phone is not 4 inches from my head, I don't hear it. Or people. Or the AC. Or lawn mowers. Neighborhood kids. As long as a huge stereo is not blasting near your bedroom or 30 people running around a party, you'll have a blissful sleep.
The retail box for these says "Leight Sleepers" and comes in a clear box, 10 or 20 pair ct. The product you are ordering comes in a huge box, and every pair is individually wrapped in little perforated bags complete with basic instructions (inside the box is a pamphlet with 20 or so languages on to insert). Amazons title says 200 ct, to clarify that's 200 individual baggies, each containing a pair of plugs. Not 200 total plugs.
I usually replace every 3 to 4 days. Get a small pill case or something small to store these in for the next day. Make sure your ears are dry (no showering before bed) before inserting so bacteria don't grow - no way for water to escape.
Every ear is different so your mileage may vary, so try out a few types from your local 'mart or pharmacy.
Potential Cons: If you live alone, make sure you have networked smoke alarms so if a fire breaks out in your kitchen, the one in your bed room would sound as well. Otherwise there is no way to hear it. Need a good loud alarm clock next to your ears. Need the phone near bed too, etc...
Customer Review: How did I ever live without these?! Summary: 5 Stars
I have been using these ear plugs for the past few years, and I don't know how I got through a decade of marriage without them! My husband was quite the snorer... And I am a VERY light sleeper. The slightest little things wake me up. And I would be up alllllll night, nudging him back onto his side. His life improved, too, since he was allowed to sleep comfortably on his back without me pushing at him all night.
I can now sleep through all of those little things that used to wake me, AND the snoring! I recommend combining the earplugs with the use of a fan. I keep my floor fan on, facing away, and I am in my own little blissful quiet zone. Make sure that you follow the directions for using the earplugs or they may not work properly.
Advice for those who complained about the size: These generally come in three sizes. The higher the noise reduction rating, the larger the ear plug is, and more noise gets blocked out:
Smallest, with lowest noise reduction (But still pretty darn good!) : NRR30 Howard Leight Maxlite Uncorded Earplugs hearing protection 200 pair
Medium in size and NRR, and these are my favorites : NRR32 Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite Uncorded Earplugs hearing protection 200 pair
For larger ear canals, and with the highest NRR of this brand/style : NRR33 Howard Leight Max-1 Uncorded Earplugs 200 pair
Customer Review: Works like a dream Summary: 5 Stars
Like most of the women who have reviewed this product, I am a very light sleeper and every noise wakes me up. As you can imagine, when I started dating a chronic snorer who sounds like a freight train, it began causing some problems not only in our relationship but in every day activities because I was hardly getting enough sleep. I was cranky all the time and took out a lot of that on him (sorry babe!). The snoring became so bad at times that I would leave his house at 4 AM because all my nudging and pushing to get him to move to his side would do nothing and just make him mad for waking him up. I finally decided to start looking up different brands of earplugs to get other people's opinions, since I knew there were women with the same problem.
I stumbled upon to the Howard Leight brand and after reading all the reviews, I decided that these seemed like they would do exactly what I needed. There are 3 sizes, and I figured that since these are the medium size, they'd fit most ears, including mine. And I am so very happy to say they fit perfect. I was having some trouble getting them in at first, but wetting them a little bit is the trick to getting them in after you've rolled them. And once they're in, you can count on not hearing a THING the rest of the night! These are a godsend and probably have saved my relationship and my personality, especially since I sleep all through the night and haven't been starting arguments or looking like the living dead all day.
$20 for earplugs may seem like a lot, but you get 200 pairs and I reuse each pair for a week. The best $20 I've spent in a while!
Customer Review: Changed my life Summary: 5 Stars
Between the talking/partying/outdoor TV playing neighbors, my spouse snoring and the dog's nighttime roaming, I was getting no sleep and hating life. Using the Laser Lites every night for the last four years stopped the insanity, allowing me to sleep comfortably and confidently.
I started with the earplug sampler (samples of 15 or so different brands) from earplugsuperstore dot com. After trying them all I picked out the most comfortable, highest dB plugs which turned out to be the Laser Lites. They create a perfect air seal without being too large, which is very uncomfortable. I buy them in bulk and take handfulls with me in my shaving kit when I travel, leaving stashes at my parents, the in-laws, etc. I spread the Howard Leight religion and give samples out to my relatives and friends. I am a true believer.
Some tips on using earplugs: 1) Make sure your ear canal is wet before inserting the plugs, this helps them slide into place without wrinkling. 2) You can feel a good air seal as a very slight tug on your eardrum as the earplug expands in the ear canal. Test the air seal by rubbing your thumb and forefinger together gently right next to your ear. If you hear anything, you most likely have a wrinkle and need to push them in again or re-insert.
These really are fantastic, high quality earplugs and I highly recommend them.
Customer Review: Very quiet, and worth the bulk purchase! Summary: 5 Stars
I've always been a rather light sleeper, but never even considered the idea of ear plugs. Last year, however, my roommate and I were having noise issues, and she offered me a pair of what she called "construction grade ear plugs," given to her by a friend. A small zip lock back with 4 new pairs of bright pink and yellow ear plugs.
I used them religiously for about 8 months, pushing the poor things to their limits in terms of usage. XD Though they don't completely eliminate close sound, or things like voices and TV, they do an incredible job with most things--enough for me to get sleep and stay that way! In fact, I can't hear my alarm clock with them on, and have to sleep holding my phone so that the vibration wakes me up.
Obviously, when the original two pairs ran out, I was crushed. After a bit of hunting around online, I found these, which looked exactly the same--and lo and behold, they were! I was a bit disheartened that I was going to have to buy 200 pairs, but at least I know I won't be running out any time soon.
In between my old pair running out and buying these, I tried several types of ear plugs--these, however, have been not only the most effective, but by far the most comfortable. Most nights, I hardly notice them, and have even occasionally forgotten they were in when I was particularly tired!
