Tools and Hardware Reviews of Howard Leight LL1 Laser Lite Earplugs no Cords (200 ct)Customer Review: Laser Lite Foam Ear Plugs NRR 32 , are GREAT! Summary: 5 Stars
I was recently issued a pair of these while flying on a "noisy", two engine float plane hunting trip?-
I was apprehensive, as normally foam ear plugs cause "extreme" irritation to the soft skin in my inner ear!?
I also have fitting problems, as one ear canal is much smaller than the other?
These were a delight!-
They were sooo soft/smooth, and caused NO irritation!
Easily fit in both both ears, and did not fall/work out!
The 32nrr/db sound deadening was EXCELLENT!
The next test was at the rifle range- I shoot a LOUD .338 win magnum rifle!-
For shooting-it is recommended that you wear BOTH plugs & ear muffs!- The loud bang also travels up your jaw bone, so you must also protect the area surrounding your ear (You'll get Tinnitus..., if you don't!)
For muffs I use/recommend the 30nrr/db "Leightening Howard Leight Ear Muffs"!
Leightening Howard Leight Ear Muffs
This double protection "REALLY", solved my "ears ringing". With the combination of these ear plugs/muffs- We are talking 62nrr/db noise deadening!
Customer Review: Excellent earplugs Summary: 5 Stars
These are very nice, with a smooth finish that's not itchy, and good noise reduction. I've used the green ones, orange ones, yellow ones, solid rubber ones of various designs, and these work the best for me. I roll them tight and put them in as far as they'll go (until I can taste 'em!) for the quietest results. Good for working around engines, motorcycling, sleeping in cheap hotels, etc. If you're really into saving money, you can run these through the washer in the pocket of your jeans and they'll come out looking like new. After a couple washes, they don't compress properly, though, so there's a limit.
One thing to keep in mind is that they expand faster when they're warm, so if they're warm when you roll them, they'll likely expand before you can get them into your ear, making them difficult to put in and severely limiting their effectiveness.
Something else I've found, which applies to other soft foam earplugs as well, is that you can use scissors to cut these down to a shorter length if they tend to fall out while you're sleeping. Just be careful to make sure you can still get a hold of them to pull them out!
Customer Review: By far the best Summary: 5 Stars
I got hooked on earplugs my second year of college when I moved into on-campus apartments. It was so loud that I needed earplugs to sleep, but I went through many terrible earplugs before finding these. For whatever reason, many other earplugs are designed with incredibly itchy material or design. Many times I even woke up with bleeding in my ears because the earplugs aggravated my skin so much in the night that I scratched away at it. Many other times I'd wake up in a panic because the irritating earplugs didn't have tapered ends and through my fussing with them in my sleep, they'd get pushed so far into my ear canal I couldn't get them out with my fingers (the panicked feeling an the getting out of bed to find tweezers to remove them always made it hard to get back to sleep and since better sleep was the purpose of the earplugs, well... they didn't work out.)
The tapered end on these prevents them going too far into the ear. The design and the materials are super comfortable. The price is great. I just love these.
Customer Review: okay for other mild noises Summary: 3 Stars
I got a box of 200 Pair Laser Lite Foam Ear Plugs for $17.77 which is cheaper than the in-store 50 Pair (average $10). They shrink easily when rolled with fingers and fit inside rather quickly. I use them for sleeping so I am always worried about discomfort and pain. They don't block out some very loud noises but are okay for other mild noises.
They hurt a little in the morning because of the "pressing" against the pillow. I haven't used them that long so I hope they are better with time. Not as "bulky" as some other foam Ear Plugs.
UPDATE: I've had them for a while and some are adequate, barely, for sleeping while others really hurt your ear tubes in the morning. In all, I would not recommend these for sleeping.
I would recommend the purple "Flents Quiet Time Soft Comfort Ear Plugs" (NRR: 33) for sleeping.

Customer Review: Great ear plugs! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought these to be used when shooting (rifles/shotguns). Haven't tried it for that yet, but we did use them the other day at Monster Jam (Monster trucks). We were on the front row, right in the center of the stadium! Without these in our ears the 1000-1500hp trucks really hurt the ears. It was a very odd sensation, but you could literally feel the inside of your ear pulsating with the sound of the engines! We decided to put these in since we'd brought them (in their very convenient pillow packs I might add!), and were amazed at the difference! Just roll them up, and stick them in your ear. We immediately noticed the difference as the foam expanded to fill our ear canals.
At one point both my girlfriend and myself took the plugs back out because we felt we were missing some of the experience by not hearing enough, only to quickly stick them back in because of how loud the trucks were. I was very impressed by the amount of sound they blocked.
Great buy, I very strongly recommend them!
