Customer Review: Not worth the trouble

I bought three of these fans to replace older ones in bedrooms. The major selling point was the remotes that were included. The fans work, are quiet and seem well-made. Everything else about them is maddening. All of the problems found by other reviewers were in mine.
It took two hours for two of us to hang the first one. In bygone years, I could replace a ceiling fan by myself in 30-40 minutes. Instructions confusing, mounts incompatible with those in place, remote sensing materials almost impossible to stow in the fan housing. The other two took about an hour each. We learned to stuff the housings before hanging the fans. Mine are flush-mounted in ordinary bedrooms. I can't begin to imagine how difficult the install would be in rooms with high ceilings.
The remotes are worthless. With the wall switches on and the remotes turned off, the fans and lights go on by themselves. The first night the light and fan (at high speed) went on at 3:18 a.m. Playing with the dip-switches did not cure the problems. I now control the fans at the wall switch and use the pull-chains for the light and fan settings. Very disappointing. Returning them was probably the right thing to do, but the thought of dismantling them and trying to repack them for shipment was more than I wanted to tackle.
