Customer Review: Does the job but doesn't last forever

I have a gazebo-style screened porch attached to the house where this ceiling fan is located. The fan is a cast iron Hunter Original which had to be replaced after the motor seized after 4 years of use. (Hunter sent me a new motor with no hassle). This remote was a replacement for the same model remote that stopped working, and the only model that works with this fan. It does work and is easy to install (requires taking the entire fan assembly down), but the previous remote lost some of the functions after about 3 years. It would only run one speed of the fan, and several months later would not work the light. This unit IS located outside, but is under roof so it doesn't get rained on but is subjected to high humidity in the summer. This is the only remote that is recommended for the Hunter Original fans so it's a captive market. Amazon had one of the lowest prices for this remote. Hopefully this one will last a little longer.
