Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 44360 Set and Save 7-Day Programmable Thermostat

Customer Review: Just The Thermostats We Needed
Summary: 4 Stars

We purchased two of these thermostats to use with our baseboard hot water heat system, due to the huge increases in heating oil costs. We do not have central a/c. We work varied hours/days so we wanted the 7-day programmable model. We are very happy with how effortlessly this thermostat works, though setting it can be a bit tedious. But, once you get it where you want it, there is nothing to do but push the "home today" button when we're unexpectedly home or increase/decrease the set temperature with a quick keypad push. Overall, we are very satisfied with this unit. We do notice the "click" mentioned by another reviewer, but find that it is not objectionable. It's one of those noises that you stop hearing after awhile like any other repetitive household noise. For the price and the tighter control of your energy usage this is a good thermostat to purchase.

Customer Review: Honeywell has some competition
Summary: 4 Stars

I looked at several different thermostats and had a difficult time deciding between this product and a Honeywell thermostat. I knew very little about this brand, but thought I would try it out. Honeywell thermostats tended to be pretty pricey and I was able to get this thermostat with a 7 day programming ability for quite a bit less. Installation was fairly easy. If one reads the instructions before attempting to install it, I do not foresee any difficulties. I felt the instructions were pretty easy to follow. My only complaint is that the lighting on the screen does not stay on for very long when you make adjustments or program it, but that is most likely to conserve battery power. Anyway, I would highly recommend this thermostat to anyone looking into replacing an old one. I used this for a gas furnace and do not have air contitioning in my home.

Customer Review: Excellent thermostat
Summary: 5 Stars

My old thermostat didn't register the temperature properly anymore so it was time for a replacement. Did lots of looking around and this one had great reviews. I have to agree with them.

The instructions were very clear and easy to follow. I figured it would have taken me 5 hours of hassle and I'd eventually have to call a pro to come install it for me. I had it installed and working within an hour. It worked perfectly on the first try.

Programming it was very simple and it is easy to override the programmed temperature if I want it warmer or cooler. I'd definitely recommend this unit, especially since it is a fairly low price. Not sure why you'd want to spend more on a different model.

Customer Review: Hunter Fan 44360 Thermostat - Very Pleased!
Summary: 5 Stars

This thermostat saved me $500 by illiminating my heat recycling problem caused by the old mercury thermostat! I'm very glad I installed it before anything else.

It makes a clicking sound when stopping or starting the heat. It's reaffirming to me when hearing it that the heat is either off or on. It's a soft click so it's hardly noticable.

The features are simple to understand and implement.

The battery warning feature puts me at ease concerning using batteries. It also remembers the programmed schedule when changing the batteries for a whole one minute. I put in some nearly dead batteries and it still worked! So new batteries should last at least a year or two.

Customer Review: Easy installation, save $$!!
Summary: 4 Stars

This is worth every penny I spent, our old one was getting moody, sometimes it refuses to corporate. This one was very simple to install, the instructions are clear as crystal. You don't have to be very handy to do it.
My only complain is that there is not a battery cover under the main batter, when you have to lift it up for setting adjustment, the batteries are quite unsightly. but it's not a big deal. another thing is when the LED is lite up, there is a high pitch beep sound until the LED goes off, annoying but tolerable.
Overall, it saved me a lot of money in electric bill (i have a 2 bedroom house around 1200 sqft). Definately worth the investment, and it helps save the environment!
