Customer Review: You would think that a quality company like hunter would fix known problems but they don't

This remotes has had known documented problems since it first came out. The problems remain the same---the lights and/or fan turn on/off randomly at their own whim. We can turn it on and it turns itself off or vice versa. You can change the codes and doing so requires you take down the fan and reset set them. resetting them isn't hard, it is the taking down and putting up of the fan.
On advice of other amazon reviewers, we purchased the Lutron remote which works great.
And just a note--we did not buy this hunter remote--it was included with our ceiling fan. We knew the problems and gave it a try anyway because we love the fan. We kept the fan--you can not purchase it without a remote, nor will hunter give you any money back for the faulty remote--but in the end, it was the fan we wanted and we just had to deal with purchasing the separate remote.
An advantage to the Lutron remotes is that they work on the wall as well as from the remote--which is a big advantage over this---but you do pay for the advantage.
If you are looking for a remote look with another company than hunter--this product is at least 8 years old, they haven't fixed the technology or known problems, and they still sell and package it with their fans (we purchased our fan 12/09. It is disappointing to me because otherwise the company has a great reputation.
