Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 21617 Palermo 52-Inch Energy Star Brushed-Nickel Ceiling Fan with 5 Maple/Cherry BladesCustomer Review: Just SEXY! Summary: 5 Stars
I was doing alot of research on a fan that had cherry blades and a similar finish to Stainless steel. This was the first fan that crossed my path. HD was way overpriced on this item when I shopped around and amazon had it in stock and I got it in one and put it up in no time.
The instructions could have been a little more clear to actually show what screws when to what part. It would have sped up my install even faster.
Fan is quiet and I like how how the remote covers the light switch so no one will be turning it on and off.
Customer Review: Do not buy this product. Summary: 1 Stars
I installed four of these fans in my house 3 years ago. The remote control receiver unit inside the fan has stopped working on two of the four units. Please search the internet becasue many others have had the same problem. It is not a frquency setting issue: it is an electronics issue with the control board. Hunter does not stand behind the design problem and will charge an excessive price for the replacement part. The part is also difficult to replace becasue the fan has to be removed from the ceiling to access the part.
Customer Review: Works great - but no dimmer available Summary: 4 Stars
This fan is great - we purchased it for the energy savings rating, not realizing that meant it was flourescent and the electrician said you can't use a dimmer switch with a flourescent. That's the only downfall - either on or off when it comes to the light. And you have to use the remote, which in our house with 2 men, will never last, though they said we could super-glue it into the holder...time will tell if this is necessary! Anyway, other than that, it's a great fan - very quiet, looks great.
Customer Review: wonderful with room for improvements Summary: 4 Stars
Putting it up was a lot more challenging than most fans I have installed. There are many ways that the manufacturer could improve how to put the fan up. The decorative pieces at the ceiling come off easily. The remote is nice, but it requires the use of the remote. Should something happen to the remote the fan will have to be replaced. There are no pull strings as a backup to operate it.
Overall use of the fan has been great so far. I am very glad that I have purchased it.
Customer Review: Nice fan Summary: 4 Stars
The fan itself works great.I had trouble mounting the fan to the electrical box in the ceiling because I needed to install a wooden cross brace between the joists to hold the box. The fan is mounted by installing screws through the electrical box to the wooden cross brace instead of mounting to the threads on the box itself like some other brand ceiling fans I have installed. Maybe other manufactures do it this way also or maybe because this fan is on the heavy side.
