I orderd the floor model and this version from Hunter and have been very pleased. They are beautiful to look at, weighty, as solidly made as they can be and very quiet. The buttons are thick pieces of solid metal. There is no plastic anywhere on these. Their lowest speed is almost inaudible, yet they cool by moving air so efficiently. My friend had no difficulty putting them together for me. They were packaged carefully to avoid breakage. I have one upstairs and one down and my house is cooled wonderfully. Don't understand all the made in China bashing and complaints about degree of diffculty in assembling in all the other reviews. The quality is remarkable.Customer Review: Century Fan - Great!

Great, beautiful, durable fan. First saw this fan in black and slightly bigger at a bar in Texas. The bartender raved about them and I thought if they can withstand the daily use of a restaurant/bar, that it should be pretty durable. So far I'm happy. Looks super cool and retro. Gave it 4 stars only b/c sometimes it won't turn on when on the low speed but doesn't effect how the fan operates. You can still turn it on using the middle setting and then switch down to the low setting, so all three speeds still function. If it does break, would pretty much guarantee I'd have no problem sending it back to the manufacturer, but doubt that will be an issue!Customer Review: Elegant fan

This is one of, if not, the best fans we've owned in our 29 years of marriage. It reminds me of the fans my grandmother had at her home when I was a child in the '60's. We just finished a total home renovation and this Hunter fan makes an excellent compliment to our furnishings. It is easy to operate and, unlike the 1930's GE pedestal fan I inherited from my grandmother, it is safe around kids with the protective cover. It has that 1930's look to it and we are very pleased with this purchase.
I placed the order and received our shipment so quickly that I wondered what UPS was delivering. Great service!

The fan is beautiful. However, the first night I used the fan it broke. It simply stopped working on the first speed. It then never worked again on the first speed, and ran only intermittentantly on the second but continued to work on the third speed. I have since returned this fan. I bought another locally. It began a noise on the first night of use which sounded like a tree limb scratching against glass. I returned it and got a third fan which also has a noise, a different noise than the second fan. My feeling is that it is made poorly. You might be lucky enough to get one which works but I was not successful.Customer Review: Stopped working after 9 years

This has been a great fan to create background noise and provide a cool breeze at night while sleeping. After nine years, it slowly stopped working on the lower speed, then the middle speed. Now, we can get it going if turned on full power, but before morning it will just stop, you can hear that it's still trying to go, but it doesn't. I've taken it apart and cleaned it out and that helped it for a few weeks, but ultimately, it has died. We loved it while it lasted and would consider buying another one if Bed Bath and Beyond still carried it so we could use a coupon of some sort and lower the price a bit!
