Tools and Hardware Reviews of Hunter 90022 12-Inch Oscillating Table Fan, Satin Black with Brushed NickelCustomer Review: Retro Fan Summary: 5 Stars
This Fan is Beautiful and Works Flawlessly! I own the brushed nickle but it available in a wide
variety of finishes and the price with go up (for chrome polished) or down for a painted finish,
I found this fan at HOME DEPOT for under 40!!! I bought two since Walmart was charging $100 for the exact
fan. It shipped in days via FedEx and was in perfect condition.
Because its all metal and solidly built, it is heavier and sometimes the blades rattle when powering down. This
is normal! I've owned metal fans before and this design is called the Century for a reason. It is
a reproduction design from the twenties/thirties.
Buy this fan first the style! It is a thing of beauty and catches the light in the room. The slider switch
is a thing of ease since its so simple to use and adjust speeds of the fan right where you need a switch.
If your a sound neurotic who can't stand any vibration noise, than you probably should buy this or any tabletop
fan. I love people complaining that this fan is noisy since this fan's popularity is about the LOOKS!!! It is
as quiet as any other fan I have owned. Vibration and placement with determine noise.
I highly recommend this fan!
Customer Review: ok. maybe i'm picky Summary: 3 Stars
I agree with the other reviewer. it's a nice looking fan, forty bucks cheaper AND measurably quieter than the one at restoration hardware. nice deal. one little thing, though. there's a click-click at a certain point on the rotation. every time it hits that point--click-click. i returned one and replaced it with another, got it home and same thing--click-click. even at the same point on the turn. it's like a slow steady drip on a faucet. some people can ignore it. me...it drives me crazy.
UPDATE -- 5 STARS -- tried yet another much more expensive fan that was too loud, returned it, bought THIRD Hunter Fan from LNT, same problem--click-click, was done with Hunter, shot off a quick email on their website just to let them know of the defect, turns out they have pretty decent customer service, sent me another fan, NO CLICKS, at least not in the time that i wd have normally started hearing clicks. if you don't hear from me again, i'm happy and you can consider this fan, in my opinion, stylish, the quietest of the many I've tried, and at a good price.
Customer Review: Nice fan, works, just doesn't turn anymore... Summary: 3 Stars
First off, yes, I still have this fan, and use it. Never turn it off actually.
That said, it quit oscillating probably after 3rd or 4th month (can't remember) - which limits in which room it can be used in.
It really is a beautiful fan, I just wish it were a little more powerful, but that is just my nitpicking.
Other than it not turning (let me clarify here - it starts turning and then quits and stays in one spot) like it should, it works. Not sure of the loudness others are talking about, only because it doesn't bother me, rather soothing to me. What is loud to me, may not be to you. What is a roar to you, may be a whimper to me. So, to me, it's not loud.
I guess I expected more because it is a Hunter fan - maybe the company doesn't make fans like they used to - I know that our ceiling fans are Hunters and between 5 sets of families, we have probably 30 fans, ranging from 3/4 years old to 30 years old and they all still work. Just wish this table fan worked like it should. :-(
Customer Review: Best Table Fan I've Owned Summary: 5 Stars
I just got this fan for Mother's day and although I can't provide a review on durability I can say I'm thrilled with this fan so far. I'm not sure why people are complaining that it's not quiet...it's very quiet - I can hardly hear it on the low setting. I don't mind the whir of the motor on the higher settings anyway, so maybe I'm not a good person to judge this.
I have owned every conceivable type of fan out there but this is the first Hunter. It's sturdy and well made and it's much stronger than any of the plastic fans I've used, regardless of the size. I'm ditching the 12" Lasko fan the Hunter replaces...it's simply awful; cheaply made and not very powerful. Since I use a table fan 24/7 in my bedroom (even with the A/C on) I can say without hesitation this is a quality product and a great buy.
Overall, I am very happy with this fan and believe it's well worth the few extra dollars over the brands you find in the discount stores.
Customer Review: Too good to be true? Summary: 2 Stars
Unfortunately, yes. I was swayed heavily by the raves written by other reviewers prior to ordering this fan. After a week of living comfortably with it, I was confident enough to toss the packaging out. This turned out to be premature....the fan soon developed an annoying problem. The blade will not rotate unless you start it on 'medium' or 'high' speed. After it runs for a few minutes, you can cut it back to 'low'. I am very disappointed in this development and if I still had the box, it'd be on its way back to Hunter as soon as the weather cools off. Also, being a 'fan' of American-made products, I was also chargrined to find out that, despite the nostalgic tone and 'family pride' found on the packaging, this fan is made in China!
