I love this fan. Looks great, works great. I've had this fan for 15 months, and use it several hours each day.
I'm thinking about buying another one to replace a bionaire fan that blows too much and is too loud, even on the low setting. This Hunter fan has a pleasant and quiet breeze on the low setting.
I prefer a mild hum from a fan. On a higher setting, the hum helps me sleep and reminds me of Grandma's metal fan that I loved as a kid. I don't use the oscillating feature often, but it still works fine so far. It does have a slight click when it changes direction.

All exposed parts are metal and the fan seems to be solid. The switches function smoothly like a quality product. For all practical purposes the noise from the fan is not much different than other fans. Two jets flying overhead is not much different than one jet flying overhead in terms of their effect on your life. If you want to direct the air from the fan toward the ceiling or to move air up a stairwell, this is not the fan for you. It has VERY limited elevation adjustment. The fan can be set to remain stable or oscillate over an 85 degree range. There is no intermediate setting.Customer Review: Great looking - poor performance

I bought this fan nearly a month ago. It started off fine, though definitely not "whisper quiet". I'm convinced the cage and blades are too heavy. The blades have begun to hit the side, the cage won't stay tight, and the motor is very loud. Plus the clicking noise it makes will drive you crazy. This is a real disappointment! I bought online because the black version of this Hunter isn't available in stores. Now I intend to return it and swith to the more reliable Vornado brand. Hunter has a good rep for ceiling fans, but for whatever reason this oscillating version just doesn't cut it.Customer Review: This is a GREAT fan!

I was looking for a really top quality, great-looking fan. One that looked and felt like it was made way back when things were built incredibly well and lasted a long time.
I kind of laugh at the fact that I had a cheapo, plastic Cool Breeze fan for so long. This fan is built like a tank, and looks sleek, retro, and all around beautiful. Its pretty darn heavy and I love the solid feel. All the knobs and lever are brushed nickel. I feel like one typically needs to pay way more than $50 for such quality, but not here. This is a GREAT fan and I'm super happy with my purchase.

I really liked this fan when I received it. For my taste it was quiet, powerful and good looking. I thought that paying a little extra for a good name fan would keep me from having to buy a new one every year. (We leave the fan on low in the baby's room often.) In less than one month the smooth oscillation turned into a loud click without oscillation. I read all the reviews before I bought this one, and thought I would risk it. Looks like I got a lemon. On the bright side, the return process seems pretty straight forward. I am going to try to find a decent fan locally.
