This fan was exactly what I was looking for--nice enough for my law office, solid enough to last a while, and quiet. My experience with desk fans is that you get what you pay for--my $15 oscillating fan stopped oscillating after six months, and reached the point where it would not start unless it was set on high. This fan, while undoubtedly more expensive, appears (after a few weeks, at least) to be much more dependable. Well worth the extra cost.Customer Review: Nice fan

This is a nice looking and sturdy fan. I wanted something to use as a bedroom fan so I was concerned about noise which is why I chose this one over the 10". I have to say that even at a low setting it puts out a good amount of air with a reasonably low volume. I'm a light sleeper and I keep it oscillating but I haven't had any problems. I'd recommend this for anyone who likes the look and would like a medium to high air volume fan with minimal noise.Customer Review: HUNTER FANS...FANTASTIC.

I am part owner of my home, and we own 10 Hunter ceiling fans, and I recently purchased 3 of these floor fans and 1 pedestal Hunter fan. I believe in the Hunter fans quality. Their products are extremely durable, QUIET and attractive. In my opinion, Hunter manufactures some of the best fans in the world. These fans may seem expensive to some; however, you will not be replacing them any time in the near future. You WILL get your monies worth!Customer Review: Too Noisy

I live in an attic apartment, which means it is important to keep the air flowing. So I have at least one fan in every room. Of all the fans I own, this one is by far the noisiest. The WHIR it emits is so loud that I generally prefer to not use it. If that kind of thing doesn't matter to you, then I can say that otherwise the fan is great - solidly built, and stylish to look at. But for me, if it's too loud, it's useless.

Decided after 36 years on this planet, I'm done with the ugly plastic fans. This fan says "I have arrived": Quality all metal construction, looks great, good value. Plus it makes you feel like you are in some kind of film-noir movie. Incidentally, I also own 2 beautiful ALLAIRE fans from restoration hardware and even though I love them, I can honestly say this one is just as good, costs MUCH less, and is a tad quieter to boot!
