Customer Review: Worst. Customer Service. Ever.

Bought this item with a five-year warranty four years ago. Due to a faulty handle design, it reached the point where it would not shut off and the only want to stop the flow of boiling hot water was to unplug it. So it had to be replaced under warranty after only 2-1/2 years. Now, a year later the replacement has to be replaced, for the exact same reason, and still within the same initial warranty.
Even at that I would not have been displeased and angry enough to write this review if the customer service had performed. Instead, they referred me to a local company that gave me the runaround for three weeks and then finally decided they did not want to do Insinkerator service anymore. Then I was referred to another company that is 140 miles north of me (translates into 3-1/2 hours each way driving through Los Angeles). That was two weeks ago and that company is still waiting for the replacement part (but admits that even if they received it this week, they would not have time to get here until next week or the week after). And all I can do is talk to somebody in the Phillipines who keeps repeating in broken English that there is nothing they can do.
I really make an effort to buy American, but frankly, this is the last Insinkerator product I will ever purchase, and I would urge anyone considering it to look elsewhere. For starters, there are some awesome Japanese freestanding hot water dispensers available at one-quarter to one-third the cost of this Insinkerator piece of garbage.
