Ever wonder which switch to use?
Is this one for the light or is it that one?
Which one is for the disposal? Is it on the left or the right?
Guess wrong and you just might wake up the household.
Staying over to babysit our grandchildren
we feed, play, read, and rock them until they fall exhausted . . .
(oops that's us not them) into dreamland.
Now it's time to turn on a light over the sink
but trying to figure out which switch is which becomes a problem,
especially when you have just gotten the cherubs to sleep
and desire some much needed quiet time for yourself.
We're old, we get confused and because it's not our house
we have suffered the consequences of making the wrong choice.
To err is human but to air (switch) can be divine!
Having chosen the wrong one once too many times
prepared us for choosing this InSinkErator SinkTop switch for our home.
It is awesome, no confusing this with a light switch.
It works at the touch of a finger and works only when we want it to.
Installation was easy and we can finally say
we chose the right switch this time!

Customer Review: Works great with hot water dispenser

I have the InSinkErator Excel garbage disposal and wanted to add a hot water dispenser to the same 15 amp circuit. However, the total wattage would have exceeded the circuit capacity and I was concerned about tripping the fuse or creating an electrical hazard.
This sinktop switch solved the problem because it shuts off power to the hot water dispenser when the garbage disposal is activated. The switch has worked flawlessly since I installed it weeks ago. No electrical problems at all running both the garbage disposal and hot water dispenser.
My faucet only takes up a single hole so I installed it easily to an adjacent preexisting sink hole. I plugged the hole on the other side of the faucet with a $2 stainless steel cover from Home Depot.
I also like the fact that there is no electrical wiring to the button which means you can activate the disposal with wet hands without worrying about getting shocked.
The only negative is it did not come with a stainless steel or brushed nickel finish which would have matched my stainless steel faucet and appliances. They do offer the nickel finish separately but it is $25.

We love that a nice-looking button replaces a wall switch for the disposal. It's easy to reach and unobtrusive on the countertop by the faucet. It was fairly easy to install and so far works like a dream. I withheld 1 star only because I had to order the Mocha Bronze countertop button separately INSINKERATOR Sink Top Air Switch MOCHA BRONZE STCMB separately from this switch kit, which came with a white, a satin nickel, and a chrome button--all the colors I DIDN'T want to match my faucet. Seems like you should be able to order the kit with whichever button you want.
But it works great and looks fabulous.

This is an ingenious and excellent product for use with kitchen island sinks. Texas builders' code does not allow for an electrical switch to be under the sink (i.e. for the disposal), but that means if your sink is in the island, your only other choice is to put the disposal switch on the side of the island, which isn't ideal especially if you have young children. This SinkTop switch provides you the convenience of on/off on the countertop without the risk of electrical shorts (or electrocution), while still being to code. We've had this product for almost two years(when we remodeled our kitchen) and it's worked very well.Customer Review: Should have option for hard wire

The functionality of this device once setup is great. I'm using it for a disposal and hot water dispenser.
However, I don't understand why ISE makes this as a plug-in only device. Almost every existing disposal is hardwired to a Romex cord coming out of the wall. In order to use this device in an existing installation, you would need to install a new receptacle from the existing Romex wire and then plug this switch into it.
I would prefer the wiring for this device to be like their disposals where you can easily hardwire it or wire in a regular power plug.
