Tools and Hardware Reviews of Indus-Tool TT Toasty Toes Ergonomic Heated Footrest

Customer Review: Great product!
Summary: 5 Stars

I started working from home just this year and keep the thermostat at 65 in the winter. I also wear heavy steel-toe, high-top, leather work boots almost exclusively and found that my toes, feet, and lower legs were getting pretty uncomfortably cold and achy sitting in front of the PC for extended periods.

Putting the heater on the higher setting keeps my feet and legs perfectly warm right through the boots with no problem.
Lower setting is required if for some reason I have on slippers or just socks. Too hot to use on high.
I think it's a stretch to think this unit can be stood up and used as a sort of radiant heat source. Yes it puts off a goodly amount of heat but it isn't a radiant heat source like a hot glowing filament or ceramic tube heater. You won't feel the heat from 6 feet away like a true radiant heater.
Had noted complaints about these making a noise and yep, it creaks a little if moved around. But at my age, so do I. (LOL) The plastic creaking is not bothersome or a problem for me at all.
Also noted comments about the switch. No you can't turn it off/on with your toes, but jeez people. Take a risk and bend at the waist once in a while.

I love that I can sit my feet on it and can rock the whole platform up and down at will to change the position of my feet and stretch my calves.
All told, I've been using this for a month and really like this little foot rest/heater.

Also when I come in from outside in the snow, I bump the snow off my boots and can sit them on this heater. They'll be dried out in just a little while and toasty warm when I put them on. Outstanding.

My only negative comment is that I think it's priced a little high at nearly $70 but it does what I expected it to do and exceedingly well.

I would (and have) recommended this product to family, friends, and anyone who needs to keep feet and legs warm while working at a desk.

Customer Review: Does what I want it to but you may have to wait longer to get it
Summary: 4 Stars

As fall/winter comes upon me, my hardwood floors get cold overnight, and my socks weren't enough to keep my feet warm under my desk all day. As I work from home full time, I had no one to turn to but myself to rectify this. After looking at the different models of warming footrests, I decided on this one. Unlike every other Amazon item I have bought (and I've bought a few), this one did not ship in the shipping window I was told. In fact, I NEVER received a shipping notice. An email to the Seller advised me they had already shipped it (yet I had no shipping invoice) but they didn't say WHEN they shipped it. Nevertheless I received it a few days after that. It arrived in the same box it would have sat on a shelf in, by that I mean no packing, no brown wrapping paper, no cushion wrap, just a slightly mangled Toasty Toes box... that's amateur hour, and this wasn't a cheap item either! I feared it would be broken since it has no cushion from any packaging. But I plugged it in and voila, warmth for my feet! With the swivel legs, I can reposition my feet under the desk and not lose contact with the footrest. The low setting is plenty warm for me, especially if I am barefoot. It happens to be 50 degrees and rainy today and it's 66 in this office (I'm seeing how long I can hold out before putting on the heat) but my feet are warm. It's wide enough to fit both feet comfortably on it.

I do wish it had a more comfortable covering on it. The hard nobbed plastic isn't the best thing, but it isn't the worst.

I plugged my footrest in to the desk outlet strip so when I shut down for the night I'm shutting down the footrest as well. That's good for me otherwise I would forget about it. There is an "on" light, but I don't see if under my desk! If you get up during the day to run an errand, go out to lunch, or work in an office and leave for the day, you might forget to turn it off.

Customer Review: This design needs just a little bit more work
Summary: 2 Stars

The 3 settings on this unit are simply not enough. Setting 1 is "off", necessary, however I just unplug it. You'll see why in a moment. Setting 2 is for use as a foot pad, as illustrated in the main picture. Setting 3 is for use as a heating element, where the unit is swung to a standing position, and you are warned that if you use setting 3 as a foot pad, you could get burned soles.

I find that setting 2 is simply too hot for me. So, I plug it in, (with 2 on), use it for about 10 minutes, then pull the plug. It seems to hold residual heat for a fair length of time. Why do I unplug it? Well to get to the control, you have to get on your hands and knees if this unit is under your desk. It's much easier to pull the plug, as I have a bad knee.

What could be improved? I think the cheapest solution would be to have a rheostat where you can dial the heat setting you want, on a scale of 1 to 10. Once you've got that number pegged, you'd never have to change it. Then instead of their being the current off setting, there would be a foot button that you could just push on it with your foot and turn it off or on. Those changes would make this a "5" rated product.

It's either that, or have the entire switch moved to the end of a cord, where you could at least change the settings very easily with no hassle.

Customer Review: Lives up to its name. No more cold toes in the office.
Summary: 4 Stars

Last winter I wore two pairs of socks or walked around in my winter boots while at work. The floor under my desk was always cold. I wasn't going to put up with that for another winter. I've been using the Toasty Toes for a few weeks now, and it's great. I've only had to use it on its low setting so far. It does take several minutes to get warm. But when it gets warm, it's great. Not too hot, not too cold - just right.

Pros: It gives off a nice even heat similar to a heating pad on low or car seat warmers. Unless you get a broken unit, you will have toasty toes and feet. It uses very little electricity - much more efficient than a space heater. There is NO hot plastic smell.

Cons: The cons are minor when you have nice warm feet, but still kept me from giving the product 5 stars. The footrest pops into two plasic feet that allow you to adjust the angle of the footrest. However, the feet are cheap plasic that slide very easily. If you have 'busy feet', you could find the footrest slides around underfoot. Also, the footrest switch is almost impossible to operate with your feet. Why should I pay an extra $15 for a desk mountable switch when it would cost the manufacturer less than $2 to use a different switch.

Customer Review: FINALLY... my feet are WARM!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Five stars is not enough for this product. If you suffer with cold feet, chances are your feet feel half frozen right now, because you are looking for a foot-warmer to buy. Right? Well, look no further. Please don't be put off by the price. Yes, it is high. But your feet are freezing now (aren't they?), and will be until you purchase this product. It is a perfect width, especially for a person who is a little bigger than most. The unit has a hinge under it so you can rock it forward or back, so you can really sit comfortably with it for hours. I wear down slippers and use the low setting. However, if you wear shoes, the high setting will go right through the soles of your shoes and STILL keep you toasty.

Another remarkable benefit of this product is the help with my knees. Because my feet and legs are warm all the time while sitting, I can stand up so much easier, and my knees (that need to be replaced yesterday) feel so much looser. I have easy access to the unit under the desk, so I don't need the optional high/low switch. It's right at my feet, so I just bend over.

This is WELL worth the price. Suffer no more.
