Tools and Hardware Reviews of Indus-Tool FWXXX Cozy Electric Foot Warming Pad

Customer Review: Blessed with no smell!
Summary: 4 Stars

I got the floor heater this week. I had read most of the low-star rated reviews and saw how many claim it smells but ordered it and figured I would return as defective if the smell didn't leave after a week . When I got it, I put it in the garage for a day and could smell a slight rubber smell. Next day, I took it into my home office and used it and no smell. I guess I got lucky.

The only down side is that in sock only covered feet, the feet can get quite toasty (sort of like standing on a floor vent) to the point where your feet are continually needing to be moved. If I wear shoes, the feet are warm but then get a bit sweaty.

I also put on a timer so that it comes on in the morning and off at night.

I put a hand towel down and that seems to buffer it nice for the socks only way. I might get the optional hi-lo switch but feel they should have included the switch on the product for a couple of extra dollars.

All in all, a nice product (assuming it doesn't smell). Order it, and if the smell doesn't go away, send back as defective.

Customer Review: My Toes are Toasty
Summary: 5 Stars

Despite the carpeting, my feet were constantly losing heat to my home office floor, which is well below ground level. I considered a space heater but I couldn't justify the high power demand and was concerned about the potential hazards associated with such devices. At 90 watts, the pad does a fine job with little effect on my electric bill. After I found myself switching the pad off as my feet became too warm and back on when they got cold again, I took the advice of other reviewers and now use a Lutron TT-300H-WH Lamp Dimmer to maintaining a consistent temperature. This should also reduce the power consumption a bit. I was fortunate in that I didn't experience odor others mentioned in their reviews. If there is a downside, it is that I occasionally forget to turn the pad off when I leave the office. There is no need to leave the pad on as it warms up quickly. However, I cannot fault the product for my own forgetfulness. If you've got cold feet while at your desk, sewing table, or other location where you spend a lot of time, pick up one of these pad. You'll be glad you did.

Customer Review: Sweet n' Sour
Summary: 2 Stars

It's a cold winter, and I'm sick of dealing with cold feet. It has really started to effect my quality of life. I decided to try out the cozy footwarmer. It does get very warm, indeed. It gets too warm to leave your feet/socks on it. It works very well with your shoes on, making it ideal for the office. The heat is strong enough to warm the entire shoe. I can feel the radiant heat on my lower legs through my pants. It does heat extremely well, and I love it for that. I give it a an A+ for function!

However, it does emit a very strong odor. The fumes in the rubber are quite potent. I had it under my desk, and the fumes would irritate my eyes, nose, and sinuses. My office mate and I got mild headaches, as a result of the volatiles in the rubber. The fumes should dissipate after time. I plugged it in at a ventilated area to let it vaporize the volatiles in the rubber. I will revisit this thread to give you all a progress report. It gets 2 stars for now...

Hope this helps.

Customer Review: Lifesaver for computer workers in the winter.
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't usually write reviews, but this product deserves a review. Just received the mat for Christmas, and couldn't be happier!

I work on the computer at all hours of the day/night, and am always trying to figure out how to keep my feet warm. Seems like they turn into blocks of ice after a few hours of work. I've tried layering socks, heavy duty slippers, and lastly a space heater. None of them really worked, the first few options don't keep you warm, and the space heater is a fire waiting to happen, uses tons of electricity, and actually didn't even seem to work.

I've been using the mat for a few hours now and it's amazing, it's the perfect amount of heat without being too hot. Seems very well made, and is made in the US, which I consider to be a plus. The combination of effectiveness, build quality, and decreased fire risk make this my favorite gift of the year and I highly recommend it to anyone that hates going to bed with cold feet!

Customer Review: Don't fear the smell
Summary: 4 Stars

Add me to the list of those who've purchased and used this product recently without encountering any odor problems. It works well and is a bargain if, like me, you sometimes have a problem with your feet getting too cold. The one minor complaint I have is that the side of the mat that's closer to where the power cord is attached gets noticeably warmer than the opposite side.

Regarding purchasing the on / off switch, that probably depends on how you use it. When I keep my shoes on then this mat definitely isn't too hot -- in fact, I could stand for it to be a little warmer. With bare feet or only socks, though, it's definitely hot enough to become uncomfortable. So if you plan to use it with your shoes on then you probably don't need a "low" setting, though you may find it handy just to keep from having to unplug it when it's not in use.

The bottom line is that this product works well and the comfort it provides is well worth the money.
