Tools and Hardware Reviews of Indus-Tool FWXXX Cozy Electric Foot Warming PadCustomer Review: Indus - Tool FW Cozy Foot Watmer Summary: 5 Stars
I work at a computer all day and after an hour of work my feet get very cold. Using a space heater uses 1500 Watts and it can run the electric bill through the roof. Not to mention that it dries up my eyes as the warm air travels up to my face. So I got Cozy Foot Warmer a few days ago and it has solved my problem. It takes 10 minutes or so to get comfortably warm and my feet are toasty all day. Above all it only uses 90 watts of electric. One of the reviews stated that it had a bad smell, and it did have me concerned, but in fact the smell is very very mild. After couple of days of use even that goes away. The smell is no more than what my rubber rain boots smelled like when I first baught them. I recommend this to anyone who is considering keeping their feet warm!
Customer Review: Toasty Feet Summary: 4 Stars
I was concerned about the reviews complaining about the rubber smell but I bought it anyway. Perhaps they changed their manufacturing process but the smell wasn't a problem. Of course it smells like rubber up close but it didn't make the whole area smell even when we first plugged it in. My wife took it to work and it has totally solved her cold feet problem. I was going to buy a dimmer switch for it but she says she doesn't need it. She moves her feet off the pad or shuts it off when she's warm enough. I'm taking one star off my rating because it would have been nice if they had included the dimmer or hi/lo switch as a standard feature but otherwise we are totally happy with this product. It does the job better than a space heater and is far cheaper and safer to run.
Customer Review: It has its place Summary: 4 Stars
This is the second foot warming pad I have purchased from you. The first was four years ago. Both have worked perfectly and kept my feet warm while working on a cold floor. The only drawback is the skunky, burnt-rubber smell. If you are in an individual office with limited air flow, it will be unbearable. I now work in a cube farm, so there is no detectable odor at all. Previously, I had one in a 9 x 12 office with a high ceiling and good air flow. In that situation, the odor was noticeable (but not objectionable) for about a month, then went away. My mom wanted to try my new one in her small shop that has almost no air flow--she couldn't breathe. Your cold feet will love it in any situation, and your nose will be happy too, if you work in a large airspace.
Customer Review: Great Heater! Summary: 4 Stars
I ordered this foot warmer because my office is usally about 68 degrees or so. Everyone else seems to be comfortable at that temperature but I'm freezing. I had a space heater but that was taken away because I was told it is against policy to have one. So in an effort to keep from getting frost bite at work, I ordered this foot warmer. There is a slight rubber smell when it is on, but it's nothing like some of the reviews I have read. It doesn't smell like a skunk or burn my nose or eyes. The odor is very slight and since it's under my desk, it doesn't seem to bother anyone else around me. I love this heater!! Maybe if your nose is really sensitive, you would be bothered by it, but I'm just happy to not have to sit indian style in my chair all day.
Customer Review: Requires a lamp dimmer for reasonable operation. Summary: 3 Stars
I have used this for almost a month in my basement work room and have nice warm feet when I sit at the computer.
Having read the reviews about the smell and being too hot, I have used it with a lamp dimmer from the beginning. I set it about midway, and the warmth is about right with shoes and still not too hot with just socks. Also there is very minimal smell. It heats very slowly, so turn it up gradually. If you are into electrical work, you could use a wall dimmer in an electrical box, and that would give you a switch, too.
Three stars may be a bit stingy, but this would be a dynamite product if it had even a simple thermostat and a switch.
I recommend it IF you use it with a dimmer.
