I'm not sure why there are poor reviews for this product. It seems well made to me. It is light, but not flimsy. It sits close to the wall with no protrusions to trip over. The magazine rack will hold several periodicals or thin books. If you are in a hurry and like to jerk the toilet paper in a sudden lateral movement, then maybe a heavier or wall mounted holder is for you. This one works fine for my family, looks nice, and at a very reasonable price too.
