Customer Review: Packaging DID NOT mention does not work on compact fluorescents!

I purchased 5 of these on clearance and installed all 5. We have a lot of outdoor lighting so we need to use CFLs to manage energy costs. Nowhere on the package or instructions does it mention CFLs. You find out after the lights don't turn off (and they flicker) and you go to the web.
Either they changed their packaging or some reps from Intermatic have placed some misinformation here. I may try to return these, but the time investment for me is more of the concern. I'll follow up with a video review of the flickering, etc.

I bought this switch timer (model ST01C) about one year ago. And this week it stops working and show me "BATT" message in the screen. I tried to buy a replacement battery and I found nowhere to buy it. The battery level seems to be just fine but the relay refuses to operate. I guess the relay somehow draws more and more power as the product ages, and eventually no matter what battery condition you have, it will just refuse to operate.
Do a research on the net and you will find more and more problem about this switch.

The EJ500C timer is to be used with standard base incandescent light bulbs only! It should not be used to control lighting such as:
* Compact Florescent
* Energy Saver
* Flood lights
* Halogen
* Mercury Vapor
* Christmas lights
* Candelabra bulbs
There is a timer that will control florescent lighting, Digital In-Wall Timer ST01C.

My husband installed this on our garage lights and I love it. One thing that is not mentioned in the description is that it is not recommended for use with fluorescent bulbs. Since we are trying to reduce energy consumption and using fluorescents throught out the home I am not happy about that. So far no real problems, but it says it can damage the switch so I am probably going to switch to using regular bulbs for the gagarge lights. So if you are using fluorescents don't buy this switch. I've owned this timer before, and it worked for a few years. The one I replaced it with worked for about 2 months then started flickering before burning out completely. Contacted Intermatic, faxed the proper paperwork for the 1-year warranty to be honored but it was rejected (?!) with no reason given. The customer service reps were no help either. (FYI - the company has been bought out by Malibu Lighting). Thankfully Amazon replaced the item with no hassles as always! Haven't installed the replacement yet...
