This is THE outdoor timer to get. After intstalling extensive outdoor low voltage lighting I wanted a timer which could turn them on at dusk and off later at night having them come back on in the early morning and then shut down at dawn and have it be hands off, all the time. Needless to say the click wheel rotary, no-battery backup, timer built into my lighting was unacceptable for this. I thought the soultion would be a photocell timer of which there are many here on Amazon, but a recurring problem for me and many others would be mounting the photocell where house lighting, or the very lighting you are controlling doesn't trick the timer into thinking dawn has arrived. The solution is the Intermatic HB800RCH.
1. The timer allows for up to 28 different timer events. Want to turn the lights on and off a bunch a tims during the day or night? Easy.
2. Want the timer to schedule events based on the entire week, just Monday - Friday, or just a specific day like Tuesdays? Easy.
3. Want to make sure a power outage doesn't affect your complicated lighting plan? This timer has built in 3 month battery backup. Perfect.
4. Want the timer to be able to turn on the lights at dusk? Or perhaps turn off lights at dawn? No problem, that is a setting and can be combined with times such as "On at dusk, off at 12 am."
5. Want the timer to adjust the dawn and dusk time without a finicky photocell? No problem, this asks your location, "ie. North East Illinois" and tells you what the sunrise/sunset times are on a given day... you can then adjust even those if you want to get really specific having found out subtly different times for your very house location on the internet. Once set in such a fashion it adjusts the times daily year round so the it is in perfect sync with the sun in your location, *without* the use of a photocell!
6. Want the timer to keep the time with the twice yearly daylight savings changes and also be smart as to how that effects sunrise / sunset times? Simple, it does it automatically.
7. Want to randomize the times for security or the appearance of someone being home? That is in option.
This timer does it all. The programming isn't the simplest thing but the instructions and a bit of time and the timer is truly a set and forget, *forever*, kind of item. It has worked great in all forms of outdoor weather and makes my outdoor lighting project and a hands off pleasure.

Use the Intermatic HB800RCH Outdoor Digital Timer to automatically control security lighting, engine block heaters, pool pumps, and many other devices.
