Tools and Hardware Reviews of Intermatic PR3C Three-in-One Emergency Power Failure LightCustomer Review: Great Addition to Home Workshop Summary: 5 Stars
I have a small home workshop and, as anyone who has worked with power tools can tell you, that means I blow my fair share of fuses. Luckily, I had only done so during the day, when I could easily navigate to the breaker box. However, I figured for ten bucks I could pick up this little gem as a little insurance.
As noted, the "nightlight" isn't anything more than a pilot light. It probably won't help you get around at night. For my application, that's perfect. I don't really need to illuminate my tools for would-be thieves.
My only complaint is that is uses a polarized, non-grounded plug, which meant I couldn't use it as a pass-through for any tools. However, I hooked it up to my lights, which are non-grounded, and it works perfect.
Now I just need to go blow a fuse...
Customer Review: Handy emergency light Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great emergency light. It is always handy because you plug it into a wall outlet where it remains until a power outage occurs. In a power outage, the light automatically turns from "night light" orange to "white light" brightness. You can then remove it from the wall, if you choose, and it will light your way around the house but it is definitely not a flashlight and will not last as long as a flashlight. The plug on the front allows you to use the outlet while the light is in the outlet and is a nice convenience. If you have enough of them, you can leave them in the wall outlets and your walking areas will not be totally dark in an emergency. Under non-emergency conditions, this item acts as a night light.
Customer Review: Handy, Unobtrusive, and it Has an Outlet Built In Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this emergency light because it makes sense. While we rarely have power outages where I live we do have earthquakes from time to time. The experts always warn us to be prepared and a light that switches on automatically when the power dies is something I never thought of having before. I have plenty of flashlights but nothing like this. I hope I never need it.
The LED night light feature is orange and quite bright. It may be too bright for those who want to have one of these in a bedroom. But it's perfect for other areas of a home or apartment. I love that while it's using a socket for charging it also offers you one for your other plug-ins. A smart design.
Customer Review: Good product! Summary: 4 Stars
Among the various similar offerings on Amazon, I liked this the best mainly because of the pass-thru outlet. Having purchased 14 of them so far I am very pleased with them. They make good night lights, emergency power failure lights, and occasional flashlights. Their flashlight beams are pretty weak, but would be welcome in a black-out situation. I have not tried any LED based units, which might work better as flashlights, because none of them had the pass-through outlet. For me, the additional outlet was the deciding factor in choosing this one. One of my 14 units arrived defective. Have not had them long enough to know how long they will last before needing replacement.
Customer Review: Perfect light for all your needs! Summary: 5 Stars
We have found these lights to be perfect for MANY uses. We have them placed throughout the house -- lighting stairs; the garage; the laundry room & used as nightlights; we even have one by the litter box! We can see to walk into a dark room and they are a perfect emergency light when the power fails. We highly recommend, but you should note that if you put them in a bedroom and have a power outage, it can be startling -- the light kicks on and it is BRIGHT! VERY handy for the elderly and handicapped -- that was why we originally bought them. No more getting stuck in a dark room during a power outage while you trip around looking for another flashlight!
