Tools and Hardware Reviews of Intermatic SP440B Wireless Window Alarm, White

Customer Review: Added security at bargain prices
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered four Intermatic Wireless Window Alarms and had no problems installing them on various windows. All four alarms were loud enough for my purpose and that is to maybe scare off the intruder or alert me that something is wrong.

I only turn our alarms on when we are leaving the premises, so my battery replacement won't be as often as others who leave theirs set to on much or all of the time.

I did use the transparent double-sided tape (it is lined with red adhesive that is to be pulled off before applying tape) which I bought in the paint/hardware department. I don't think the alarms will be falling off even in our desert heat. Make sure you clean the surface well before applying the alarms.

Great little alarms for that added protection without spending a lot.

Customer Review: On your window... or in your pocket
Summary: 5 Stars

These are the most reliable, cheapest and compact portable sound alarms ever invented. Have some permanently installed at home, but also installed them at work when I worked early/weekend hours by myself. Use dime-size velcro dots and then just take the two parts with you when you leave. (Or leave them up, in the 'off' position.)

They also work for large objects, such as computers, that strangers should not be moving. (Very easy to set-up and velcro dots are easy to remove when no longer needed.)

Best, they can be used as a personal safety sound alarm. Just carry the part with the switch in your palm, flick it on with your thumb. (I can carry one unnoticed and I have a small hand.) And is LOUDER, CHEAPER, MORE PORTABLE than any other safety device I've tested.

Customer Review: Simple and effective!
Summary: 5 Stars

Easy to set up, and loud enough to wake the dead!

Two pieces (as pictured). You stick one to your door frame, and the other - to the door itself. Position them in such a way that they come together when the door is closed. Flick the switch to "ON", and you're set.

As soon as the door opens, and the two pieces are separated - RUN FOR THE HILLS (because it's about as loud as one of those air horns at baseball games).

So loud is this tiny gadget, that it creates a disorienting effect to the intruder.

For maximum effect, mine is set at "head-height". That way an intruder would have this "air horn" closest to his ears. Sweet!

Suggestion: Make use of the little sticky strips that come with the unit.

Customer Review: No one's getting in our window without us knowing
Summary: 5 Stars

We bought this for the room at the far end of the house from our bedroom. I've long worried that if someone forced or broke that far window at night, we'd never hear it. With this alarm there's virtually no way someone will get in that window without the siren going off, and that should be enough to scare them away. If not, we'll be there with our dogs and baseball bat to welcome them.

This window alarm is very easy to set up. Because we live in hot FL and it's a south-facing window, I took the advice of some other reviewers and fixed the halves with velcro rather than using the included sticky foam. I also placed it at the bottom of the window rather than either side to make it even more difficult for an intruder to avoid tripping it.

Customer Review: Excellent product when you need an inexpensive alarm
Summary: 5 Stars

Having bought this alarm for my own windows, slider and screen doors, I recommend it highly. It is a very simple system and inexpensive way to secure your home, alerting you to an attempt at intrusion with a loud alarm.
When installed, the magnetic field is broken when the window or door opened and the alert sounds out.
There is a simple on and off switch when you do not want the system active.
For hotter, humid climates such as Florida, I have found using heavy duty velcro a more reliable way to secure the alarm for the long run than the double sided foam provided.
Buy this if you're worrying about breakins! You'll sleep better.
