Tools and Hardware Reviews of Intermatic SP500 Warning Stickers, 4-PackCustomer Review: A No Name Security Sticker to Thwart Dumb Thieves Summary: 4 Stars
Lets face it a security sticker without a security company name on it such as ADT or Brinks and a 800# for the police to call, reeks of store bought or fake to a lot of people. But then you are not dealing with the average person here. You would have to be super dumb to break into a house ( Probably not even knowing what is in there ) and subject your self to jail time, or even death if the right person is waiting in there for you. And all that for what, a TV, PC or less ??? So I am fairly confident these things will more than likely work, considering the mentality of the probably not to bright person you are dealing with. Let's only hope they can read English.
The town and development I live in is a Conservative aria with an extremely low crime rate. That is one of the reasons I retired here in the first place. Nevertheless as of late there have been some house thefts. Not break-ins but walk-ins due to carelessness. The main entry point has been through wide open garage doors, the next is through rear doors, screen enclosures or pool cages that are left open. It seems a little caution by all of us would go a long way.
Some people say they use these stickers and never have been robbed. Well up until now I have never used these or any other stickers, and have never been robbed either. It's just the luck of the draw, as they say in cards. I figure for the small cost of these the odd's are just a little more in my favor, plus they make a great Super Saver filler for free shipping.
Customer Review: Easy to apply and these stickers DO discourage intruders Summary: 4 Stars
These stickers should be placed in the corner of your windows or someplace similar where a potential burglar can easily see them. I know; you may not actually have an alarm system installed in your home. Nevertheless, these stickers go a long way when it comes to discouraging intruders. My father has similar stickers in the windows of his home and he's never been robbed nor victimized.
Before you apply the stickers to the window, try placing them in different places of the window while the adhesive backing is still on the sticker. This way you get an idea of what the sticker will look like once you apply it. You may also want to ask a family member or a friend you trust to stand outside the window and discreetly tell you where the sticker will look most effective from the outside. Once you find the right place for your stickers make a very light mark on the window with a light colored pencil. This way the marks on the window can be erased easily after the sticker is on or just before you apply the sticker.
Of course there's never any guarantee that these stickers alone will ward off all potential intruders. However, for those of us who cannot afford or do not want an alarm system, these stickers do a great job. They look very official, too.
Highly recommended!
Customer Review: Perfect with a small modification Summary: 5 Stars
Read the reviews here (as always, very helpful), and many have commented that the stickers look good, but can rip or lose their ink easily. So based on that I ordered up a few sets and made some small modifications. Went to the Staples and picked up a pack of 9" x 12" self-adhesive laminating sheets. (These are sheets that are clear and sticky on one side. You place something between two sheets, press together, and trim around it to "laminate" it). Peeled the backs off all the stickers and laid them sticky side down directly onto the sticky side of a laminating sheet (8 stickers will fit on a 9" x 12" sheet). Then covered them over with the second laminating sheet (so they are now covered front and back) and cut them out. Used a couple of small pieces of double-sided cellophane tape on the front side of each sticker to stick them to the windows. I even laminated the paper label that isn't a sticker (giving me a total of 5 stickers per pack). Now they can be repositioned easily and removed for window cleaning (more like vinyl clings). I am happy with the result. Finding lots of other items to "laminate" now...
Customer Review: Nice look, great price, but thin and ink rubs off Summary: 4 Stars
These stickers have the adhesive on the correct (printed) side so that you can affix them to the inside of a window facing outward. Not all security stickers are printed on the correct side, if you can believe it. These stickers are a little thin, and the ink easily rubs off the back if you press too hard while smoothing it on the window (make sure not to use anything abrasive). The look, however, is very legitimate and detailed (the intermatic logo at the bottom adds to the feel, in my opinion), and you can't go wrong for the price. These are easily cheap enough to buy as many packs as you would need to cover every single window in your house (although that might be over kill). At a minimum, keep these in your wish list for the next time you have a sub-$25 purchase that is only a little short of qualifiying for super saver shipping, and POOF, you now have free shipping and a little more peace of mind at home.
Customer Review: DO NOT BUY THESE STICKERS Summary: 1 Stars
These stickers DO NOT BUY!!
After one week it was window washing day and although these stickers go on the inside of the window a paper towel moist with windex was enough to take the sticker right off the decal adhesive. Now there is just a transparent piece of plastic where there once was ( a week ago) an alarm sticker!
If you have not bought them DONT, if you already bought them DO NOT have any (A N Y ) presence of window cleaner and wipe around them.
