Tools and Hardware Reviews of Malibu 3 Pack Solar Landscape Plastic Flood Light Set with Remote Panel, Textured Black #LZ413Customer Review: Outstanding! Summary: 5 Stars
These are fantastic solar powered lights. I have had them for about 6 weeks now and I've really put them through their paces. I bought 3 sets from Amazon and two sets at WalMart, and will be buying more. I have find some awesome uses for these lights. You can easily disassemble the light and pull out the LED and reflector for use as you wish (indoor lighting, etc.). The solar panel provides enough charge to burn all through lights (3 LEDs each) all night and they're still burning bright come morning. My kids even use these as night-lights in their rooms just for fun. I primarily use the lights for providing lights for security cameras and such. These are not your typical solar powered landscaping lights. I don't know why they are as good as they are (I'm sure it's not intentional) but why look a gift horse in the mouth.
Customer Review: They work! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these what will be 2 years ago come April and they've amazed me - and everyone who sees them - since I first got them. They stay on all night long STILL! If memory serves, I did replace the batteries with higher mA ones but I don't consider that a fault because this unmerciful So. AZ. sun eats batteries! I'm only giving them 4 stars because, ya know, they could just use a little bit better wiring especially for what they're asking for them.
Now there was a rat, I'm guessing, gnawed thru one of the wires but I can easily fix that - and while it's apart, I can run it thru conduit. I love a challenge!
Anyway, these give off a bright path light and have stayed bright for the better part of 2 years and counting. I didn't pay near what they cost now, tho!
Customer Review: Quality Set of Solar Summary: 5 Stars
These are not designed to light up a billboard, OK? But, they are quality made with the best solar panel I've seen yet. And this is my third set of solar landscape lights. I'm using this to light up my ground feeder so that I can see the nocturnal critters come in to feed. I'm just using one flood light, mounted about four feet off the ground. Just high enough so that the squirrels can't jump up to it in the daytime! It does a great job of lighting up a six foot diameter area, and the bunnies don't mind a bit! Installation was a snap. Oh, I let the batteries charge up a day and a half before turning the unit on. Thought this might increase the battery 'memory', and so far it has worked! Don't be afraid to buy these for small lighting projects. But, don't buy them for a flag up on a twenty foot pole, either.
Customer Review: expensive for short life span & light output Summary: 1 Stars
Solar LED landscape flood lights still have much to improve. They produce minimal light at best. But the REAL complaint about this set is that the solar charger died within 10 months of purchase.
The solar charger had a symbol on it indicating that it should not be discarded in the trash. If all of the companies that manufacture solar chargers produce units that fail within months, how can this be better for our environment considering this toxic, poorly manufactured "green" technology will end up in landfills across the country?
For my family this purchase represents a very expensive contribution to the green movement. We will replace this solar LED set with regular landscape lights & gladly pay the extra $1 per year electrical expense for lights we know will last for several years.
Customer Review: Just what we needed Summary: 5 Stars
We have three sets of these lights and they perform flawlessly. Two sets provide accent lighting for dark corners of our backyard and the third set pleasantly lights a planting area near our front porch. They are brighter than solar lights and lanterns of years past and remain lit almost all night. Placement of the solar panel affects the amount of light emitted and length of time they stay on. We found that securing the solar panel to the top of a garden stake at fence height works very well in our backyard. In the front yard, the panel is staked at ground level. Both yards get 4-5 hours of sun at different times of the day and all the lights work well. They are easy to set up and turn on/off automatically at dusk and sunrise. And, they don't seem to attract bugs - what more could you ask for?
