Customer Review: What they don't tell you on the commericals

I kind of like the ionic pro. It seems to collect some dust, and even though I keep my house clean, if you can trap about 10 percent extra dust, pollen, etc. then it's probably significant. The unit will buzz if not cleaned per instructions. The unit can catch fire if not cleaned -- according to the manufacturer, the dust will bust into flame if not cleaned per strick (once per week) instructions -- so I won't run the unit when not at home. They also don't tell you that after cleaning the blades with a damp cloth, they must dry for 24 hours before reuse (or they will sustain damage), thus the manufacturer recommends buying an extra set of blades (this is not on the commericials). Also lacking from the commericias is the fact that you must ground the blades to a metal object or kitchen sink before cleaning due to static build up. Also, there is an extra filter that you must vacum. The simple wipe-clean-and-keeping-going scenario of the commericals is therefore, miss-leading. Time will tell if this unit really is worth it, but as I said any extra filtering or trapping of dust, etc. can be a significant benefit to people with allergies. If you senstive to sound it does make a bug-zapper like sound, there seems to be more dust on the outside than on the blades. After using for over a month and talking with other people ... the feelings are --this does nothing -Save you money.Customer Review: Save Your Money - Nothing but Problems

I had an Ionic Breeze for years and it worked fantastic. I also had an Oreck air purifier which also worked great but was expensive so I thought I would save money buying the Ionic Pro. Bad choice. Within 2 weeks it started making noise so I got out the cleaning instructions - did all the numerous things they require you to do (ugh) and cleaned with a damp cloth and set it out overnight before returning to the unit. For one, the blades collected almost nothing. Although my house is very clean I would have expected more. I use it for my allergies. I followed the directions to the tee but the darn thing started making that annoying noise almost immediately. Went through the steps again and again then the noise went away but now the unit turns off after a few hours. I have to set a calendar reminder to pump the unit once every 2 weeks which is so ridiculous.
The product description and advertising is misleading and a joke. You just don't wipe with a damp cloth and off you go - sorry not true. This product is a rip-off. I guess if you have nothing better to do but maintain this unit then it's for you.
Oh, by the way, calling customer service? Right, they think of many ways not to make good on the warranty. What a surprise.

Appears built very high quality, and did make a bit of a smell the first day, but not bad.
I didn't realize you have to get new blades every 2 years or so "29.95", as the blades are self sacrificing and loose their ion creating power after a while.
Something I missed in all my researching.
It moves air passively through ion pull.. so it takes a while to change the air in a room..they say 3 - 4 days before you really notice the big change..... with 3 dogs in the bed "small.. LOL!" and enjoying sleeping under a fan and the white noise, we keep our bedroom door open a bit so the dogs can go do their business out the doggy door as needed.. this only invites more impure air from the living room into the bedroom where the fan is blowing... I think the ion has a hard time keeping up under that pressure.
We got the Therapure 201M instead and are very happy with its ability to turn the air over quickly in the room, I notice a change in a couple of hours. The ION model would work fine for places where "quiet" is needed and alot of new air is not always being introduced.
It is a fine piece of equipment, but make sure its what you want for the environment you intend to place it in.

As someone who has allergies, I also have a HEPA filter that I run. That being said, when I use this device, dust definitely does collect faster on my objects, so the negative ions are bonding with airborn contaminants and making them stick to the nearest object. I don't use it for the actual air purification though, I use it because I really like the smell. It reminds me of the static electricity smell, like after a fresh rain, or during a thunderstorm. The smell is relaxing to me, and is said to have some benefits for those who suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder-- so if you're feeling sad in the winter, this summer smell may help you.
Cleaning is a snap-- I run the metal grid through the dishwasher. It doesn't require frequent cleaning. I even had a lending session to a friend whose dog got sprayed by a skunk and came in the house. They said it helped a lot in ridding the smell from the house. I rate it 4 stars instead of 5 because it does sometimes get a little "snappy" if the air gets a little damp, or if I've recently sprayed air freshener. There probably isn't anything that can be done about that, but it can be a bit annoying nonetheless.

I rarely write reviews, I just want to spare everyone the misery of having to deal with this.
I have allergies, I was recommended by someone to buy purifier. Worked beautifully for 3 days, then the Clean light kept coming on! every time I clean it as per the instruction, it would work again but shortly after turn off indicating that I need to clean the unit again!
I called customer service, we went through a couple of things. It didn't work. I went back to the store adn I got it exchanged, thinking this unit is not good. 4 days after exchange, Same problem! this unit keep buzzing, and makes these sounds that are similar to the bug zapper, at night i saw the lights from the zapping between the plates! mmmm wouldn't this be a fire hazard in a bedroom! It cleans the air well, but for few days only! I am tired of cleaning the plates every few hours to make it work again and this is when it's less than a week old. I can imagine how long it will be on after a month!
don't waste your money. I can't recommend other stuff here, but you may want to look into a different technologies called photocatalysis
they are expensive, but they work!
