Customer Review: UNSATISFIED
Summary: 1 Stars

EXCERPT: Amazon.com Product Description

JJT.LLC manufactures >>(1)this bin out of a strong composite material...making it one of the most durable composite material boxes available.<<<<<
COMMENT (1) FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. I PURCHASED TWO AND UPON INITIAL INSPECTION ONE WAS CRACKED FROM THE HANDLE/PADLOCK HOLE APPROXIMATELY HALF WAY ACROSS THE LID.UPS MAY HAVE STACKED PRODUCT DURING SHIPMENT BUT THE PLASTIC IS HARD/RIGID AND CRACKS EASIER THAN A RUBBERMAID BIN FOR 10 BUCKS..

>>>(2) This box is designed to be moved around, and the all-terrain, sealed-bearing wheels, recessed side handles, and front handle strap make it easy to do so<<<
COMMENT (2)"ALL TERRAIN" "DESIGNED TO BE MOVED AROUND"..NOT!!! THE WHEELS ON MY T.V. TRAY ARE SUPERIOR TO THESE.

>>>(3)The heavy-duty metal latches open and close easily<<<
COMMENT(3)These "HEAVY DUTY LATCHES" ARE WEAKER THAN THE LATCHES ON MY DAUGHTERS CLARINET CASE!!
>>>(4) the solid-steel hinge rod is built to last<<<<
COMMENT (4)"SOLID STEEL HINGE ROD" YEH ITS SOLID STEEL ALRIGHT, BUT AT LESS THAN THAN 1/8 INCH DIAMETER(LESS THAN DIA.OF THE TIP OF A SHARPIE) MAKES IT ABOUT USELESS. I HAVE TO ADMIT THOUGH THE "WIRE" IS STRONGER THAN THE PLASTIC IT IS HINGED TO. GUYS ITS LIKE THE HINGE YOU FIND ON THAT THROW AWAY PLASTIC TOOL BOX YOU GOT TO KEEP IN THE CLOSET IN THE HOUSE AWAY FROM YOUR "REAL" TOOLS.

I AM NOT IMPRESSED IN THE LEAST WITH the product vs. the "PRODUCT DESCRIPTION".

IF THE PRODUCT DESCRIPTION HAD SAID THIS PLASTIC BOX IS GREAT FOR STORING SOME CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENTS AND SOME TINSIL, MAYBE A LIGHT OR TWO, STUFFED ON THE SHELF AND PULLED OUT ONCE A YEAR....I WOULD HAVE PAID THE SAME FOR THEM AND USED THEM FOR THAT PURPOSE...BUT IT SAID THEY WERE HEAVY DUTY, DURABLE,ALL TERRAIN ETC, I LET MYSELF ACTUALLY LOOK FORWARD TO THEIR ARRIVAL AND WAS SERIOUSLY LET DOWN.
TRASH AT BEST...LOOK AT MY OTHER POSTS...I AM FAIR...OUT!

Customer Review: With limitations but still useful....
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought these boxes in Taji, Iraq at the armed forces exchange for around 25USD. They are built relatively well. I had to reinforce the rivets (by replacing a few of them). The dimensions are a bit deceiving but, are still large enough for the purpose I used them for.

I packed them with my belongings for shipment back and forth from Iraq to my home in the States. It cost about 45USD for shpment at a weight of around 40 lbs with the US Postal service. For mailing I drilled two additional holes (one in either end) for TSA locks during shipment. I also sealed the lid for shipment using duct tape. They arrived intact and my belongings secured (even glass picture frames).

While I was in Iraq I used the trunk for storage(under my bunk). Now that my career as a contract firfighter is over I will use them as storage lockers. Maybe even camping gear storage and transportation.

At the price offfered they are more spendy than my purchase price but, I would still recommend them even with the limitations.

Customer Review: Good, light-duty footlocker for the money
Summary: 4 Stars

For under %40, this footlocker was a good buy. The size inside is ample, and the rolling wheels are "beefed up" for durability over rough terrain such as blacktop and gravel driveways. Weaknesses in construction are "light-duty" hinges for the lid, and "light-duty" plastic construction for the faces of the footlocker.
By "light-duty" plastic construction, I mean that you would not want to subject the closed footlocker to excess weight (say over thirty pounds). Doing so would bend the shape of the footlocker, possibly even cracking or breaking the plastic sides or lid. Also, the hinge looks like it would snap if the lid were 'flopped-back' quickly or once too-often. This is a lighter-than-average footlocker, and would not be what you would want for shipping overseas, but kept in the bed of your truck for camping purposes, or storing clothing in your attic, it would be ideal. I plan to camp with mine, so I think I made a good purchase!

Customer Review: Not Worth The Money
Summary: 2 Stars

I work roadshows and needed a hard shipping container to hold my pop up booth so it wouldn't get damaged during shipping. The containers that come with the booth are too big and cumbersome so I wanted one that was easier to handle and cheaper to ship. I bought one at The Container Store that measured 32" x 18" x 13" h but since the handles are formed inside the box, it was just about an inch too short. So I found this box and thought it would be perfect since it was a little longer. The interior is maybe an inch longer but still not enough since I need about another half an inch. This can work for me since I can maneuver the booth to make it work. But the material of this box is not worth the money. This unit is about $10.00 more than the box I bought before but worth about half. If you can get by with a little smaller container, I recommend the storage box at The Container Store.

Customer Review: Not the quality I was expecting
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought this trunk based on all the great reviews. Maybe I have a new, cheaper model? One latch is too loose to latch. The other was installed so crooked it wouldn't latch at all. And the hole for the lock? Why bother? The plastic is so thin, it wouldn't take 15 seconds to cut through... Using finger nail clippers... Seriously... Nail clippers. But why even bother with that? The top is so flimsy I could leave the lock on, unlatch the cheap lockless latches, and lift the corners 4", getting to everything inside.

I'd return it, but then what? This trunk rated so well. Oh well. At least its "Made in USA", which I prefer. So I've decided it's just going to be easier (and patriotic?) to replace the two cheap, non-working latches with functional locking versions. And I will beef up the handle because I do not believe single rivets through that thin plastic are going to hold any weight.
