Customer Review: Excellent Dust Collector for Small Shop
Summary: 5 Stars
After researching numerous brands, including Delta, Penn State, Jet, Grizzly,and Onieda, I decided that the JDS Dust Force would meets my needs. I was not disappointed. Contrary to other reviews, I ordered it and had it shipped from Amazon. It was delivered as expected with no damage to the collector. I purchased it in June, 2009.
Assembly:
Assembly was straightforward and simple. The directions were correct and easy to follow. I did not have any issues with installation of the stand or canister. The bag was easy to install.
Mobility:
The whole collector and stand have a sizeable footprint, approximately 2.5 ft. by 3 ft., so it takes up some floor space. I am using one bay of our garage, so space is at a premium. The footprint didn't cause me too much heartache. The roll around platform gives you a little flexibility.
Operation:
It is suprisingly quiet, much quieter than my shop-vac. I still recommend using hearing protection, which I use ANY time a machine is operating (except the lathe). I do not have it hard piped. I use flex hose and I don't have the room nor the inclination to hard pipe collection ducts. I will eventually wire it for 220V, but at this time, it is wired 110V. It draws approximately the same current as my shop vac.
I have used it on my bandsaw, tablesaw, lathe, joiner, planer and oscillating sander and I am very pleased with its dust collection capabilities. Although I still use a dust mask, I have not noticed sawdust flying all over my shop.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with this dust collector. BTW, I am a huge Jet fan, but decided to buy the JDS based on price and reputation.
