Tools and Hardware Reviews of Easy Heat EH-38 Freeze Thermostatically Controlled Valve and Pipe Heating System

Customer Review: Just what the doctor ordered
Summary: 5 Stars

We have a weekend retreat that is unattended for long periods of time. The above ground well related piping is all protected, but the water softener is a concern. It's in a cabinet, but sustained sub freezing temperatures could be a problem for some of the related piping. I spent months pondering complicated ways to keep the temperature up in the cabinet. Finally stumbled across the Easy Heat EH-38. Can't be any more simple. This thing works flawlessly turning a light bulb on and off. I've been there to observe this thermostat in action. I bought this back during the summer and did test it in the freezer in the house, but only now have I been able to really see it in action. Works great!

Customer Review: One worked, one didn't..
Summary: 2 Stars

I bought two of these - one that turns on a fountain to keep a small pond from freezing, and another to regulate a heater to keep a small greenhouse temperature above freezing. Well, the first one works just fine for my purposes; it turns on around 36 degrees or so and turns off when the temperature outside gets to about 40, but the second is unusable for keeping the greenhouse in the 40 degree area. It won't turn on until it's about 32 and shuts off before it gets to 40. I was expecting a little margin of error (the literature says on at 38, off at 50), but not this much. So neither one really operates as advertised.

Customer Review: helpful device
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this device to back up the furnace in my cabin. I have it connected to an electric heater in the basement. So far my furnace has not failed, but I did have some air leaks that dropped my basement below 38 deg. and the device turned on as it should. Gives me peace of mind to know that as long as the electricity is on I will have some type of heat. I have it connected to a 1500 watt heater and there were no problems with mine. I have tested it several times by placing it outside in the cold and it has always worked.

Customer Review: Works as advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

I have a spacer heater with a pretty bogus thermostat that I don't trust for keeping my pipes from freezing when it gets really cold. (-15) I turned the space heater to high and then plugged it into this device and it has worked perfect. I have also put a wireless thermometer with an alarm in the area so I can monitor the temperature and be woken up if the power goes out in the middle of the night and it gets cold. So far no problems all winter. My wireless thermometer has record temperatures down to 35 but never lower.

Customer Review: Heat Thermostat
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this thermostat control for use with a heater for keeping a battery warm during the winter. Last winter the battery heater was always on to keep the battery warm to start an automatic generator. The heating during times when the temperature warmed up resulted in a damaged battery. This thermostat is just the right temperature range. After reading the negative review, I tested all three devices by cycling the temperature from 10-60 degrees F several times to verify they are working correctly.
