Tools and Hardware Reviews of Mosquito Dunks 117-6 32-Ounce Mosquito BitsCustomer Review: mosquito control Summary: 5 Stars
Mosquito Bits and Mosquito dunks work great! Word of use for fish/turtle ponds. If you use either product I would advise putting it into a cutoff piece of stocking and floating it. Even though it states not harmful to fish etc. my turtles have tried to eat it and I didn't want that to happen so I pantyhosed it and it works great. You can even float the pantyhose under a floating fake lilly plant as not to see it, and just renew contents as you need to. Also remember to scatter it in any damp/wet type location bogs or just swales etc. Also, I have a end city storm drain on my property swale that always has Mosquitos coming from it, so I tied a Mosquito dunk to a long piece of twine and attached it to the grate so that it just floats on the surface of the water that sits stagnant at the bottom of the drain when there is no rain flushing the system. Remember larvae hatches quickly. Also just another note Muscovy ducks are awesome at eating their weight in mosquito larvae so be friendly to them "city dwellers".
Customer Review: THE solution for fountains and ponds Summary: 5 Stars
We have a fountain in our front yard. But, it is often turned off due to wind, etc. It was a mosquito breeding ground - no doubt about it. This product was recommended to us by friends who have a fairly large decorative pond off their back deck. They actually gave me some to try before I bought. This works. AND it is safe for wildlife. The birds use our fountain for water and baths, no problem. Our friends have fish in their pond while using this - no problem. It kills the mosquitoes, not the other wildlife.
It doesn't take much to do the job - a teaspoon in our fountain every couple of weeks is more than enough. This size container will probably last us for years.
Customer Review: Pretty good Summary: 4 Stars
The way this stuff works is like rat poison. You sprinkle it in ponds etc and the baby mosquitos eat it then die. It works great for the first month but you'll need to re-apply (even if you still see pellets around) because they seem to "use up" with time.
I bought another round for next spring. The canister has a shake top so you can just walk around banging the canister against your leg and spread the stuff easily. Also it comes off if you want to transfer it to another spreader type container.
Customer Review: good stuff Summary: 5 Stars
I live in southern Iowa and it has been very wet this year. So far this appears to be helping a lot. It is very easy to use, love the sprinkle top that keeps you from wasting product. I tried to buy something like this locally and this was the only place I found this product. Friends who watch me treating my standing water always ask about this and I tell them all to buy, it does a great job without harming wildlife. Love it!
Customer Review: Works for me :) Summary: 4 Stars
Worked great for me - I live in a rural area with a lot of woods around the house. Just spread it around - specially in those still standing water spots (even if they seem dried out, or just "moist"). I had results after about a week. Will buy this again ...!
Note: seeing all those so called "get rid of mosquitoes" products made me very skeptical about products like this. This one however did the trick for me!
