Customer Review: Replaced my ten year old bulbs with these to good effect

These "D" style bulbs are rated to last about six years by GE. I put three fixtures purchased from Home Depot on the ceiling in my basement rec room about 10 years ago. The bulbs were still working but lately everyone noticed the light output had fallen. Even after the bulbs fully warmed up the output was feeble.
Home Depot no longer carries these bulbs so I purchased them from Amazon (none of my neighborhood stores had them, either). What an improvement! The light output from the new bulbs is fantastic. I'm very glad I bought these. Because they are genuine GE they fit my fixtures perfectly. You're paying for the electricity; no point in wasting it on old worn out bulbs.

After reading the negative reviews of these sellers, I went back to the Energy Federation site where I bought my torchiere lamp. They can be found at EFI dot org and delivered me a genuine GE bulb that was identical to the one that came with my lamp. The price was about the same as these folks and it arrived in two days. If anything, it was over packed with lots of popcorn. It can be found with the pin-based lamps under the consumer division online shopping.Customer Review: 55 WATT 2-D FLUORESCENT BULB

Well packaged and arrived in good shape. It took about 2 weeks to get using standard shipping. The bulb fits and is much brighter although it takes several seconds to warm up before full glow. Only problem is my tochiere floor lamp on/off knob has to be in specific position to turn on the bulb. That was not an issue before I got this new bulb, so either the lamp developed a problem or the bulb was not an exact replacement for the previous bulb.Customer Review: The light that no one carried.

After going all over town to the Home Depot's, Lowes, Electrical suppliers, etc. no one carried the bulb, most couldnot get it. Went on line to Amazon.com and not only did they deliver it in a very few days, but at a great price also. The GE 40184 Energy Smart 55 Watt @-D Fluorescent Bulb is an excellent source of light and it this one last as long as the first one, which was over 4 years, I will be very happy.Customer Review: Terrible reliability

Bought this bulb and it worked great... for 35 days. After the 35th day it burnt out and doesn't work any more. Maybe I got the oddball lemon but buyer beware. This is not a quality product.
Amazon's return policy is 30 days but their excellent customer service offered to replace the bulb for free. For that I will give this product one extra star. Thanks Amazon!
