Tools and Hardware Reviews of Jiffy Steamer J-2000 Residential Series 1300-Watt Garment Steamer

Customer Review: Great Steamer
Summary: 4 Stars

Overall I like the Jiffy Steamer J-2000. It is convenient to use because no ironing board is needed. The rod, which attaches to the steamer base, will hold a hanger with the garmet on it is handy. I have a large closet with an outlet so I have the steamer in my closet.

I did have an issue with getting more water than steam so I sent an email to the customer service department and was very pleasantly surprised when a representative called me to give me a tip on how to prevent that from happening. Since then I've had no issues. The tip is to pinch the hose until you hear a whishing sound which means the excess water has returned to the water tank.

The steam is steam and thus very hot. I've found some garmets do take a bit more steam than I would have thought but it is so handy to use that I don't mind taking the few minutes to freshen up clothes. It works great on summer sweaters!

I did not purchase the board and I'm looking to so do because I think that would make it even easier to remove the wrinkles.

Customer Review: Great buy
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this steamer based on the reviews I've read & I have to say that I'm glad that I did. It saves a lot of time compared to regular ironing. However it does take a while to get used to since your clothes are in the upright position. Placing your clothes on the pole while steaming is not the best way to steam. If you get underneath the clothes then its okay but steaming the front of your clothes can be challenging at times. I find that if I lean the ironing board against the wall and steam my clothes that way it works out better. I really like fast start up time & it's ready to go within a minute. It gets most of the wrinkles out but there are some stubborn wrinkles that can't be completely steamed out. You know how sometimes you leave your clothes in the dryer and it's not completely dry and leave it there over night? Those kind of wrinkles are harder to get out. But then again the regular iron can't seem to get those wrinkles out too. Regardless, I have no regrets buying this product. It's solidly built and should last me a long time.

Customer Review: Haven't used an iron in 4 years.
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this steamer off Amazon 4 years ago and I haven't touched an iron since. Although it takes a few minutes to heat up, the steamer works quickly to get the wrinkles out of my clothes. The steam is piping hot and steady so be sure NEVER to steam your clothes while you are wearing it! (And yes, I was lazy one day and thought I could steam out a wrinkle while I kept my dress on but that was a BAD IDEA!!) Fortunately I don't wear dress shirts or anything with pleats so I can just mindlessly steam away when I need to de-wrinkle something. However, unfortunately I cannot attest to how well this steamer works on such garments that require pleating but I do know there are special attachments for that.

The steamer is sturdy and doesn't drip or leak. I never empty the water between uses and I've never gotten mildew or slimy buildup. I initially bought this brand because I work in the entertainment industry and all wardrobe stylists use a Jiffy steamer. I'm glad I went with a Jiffy because mine is still steaming away!

Customer Review: My first and Best steamer ever
Summary: 5 Stars

Was instructed to get a steamer. Did my homework online. This steamer seemed to score highest in its arena across the board. I went for it because of the reviews, cost seemed fair, no shipping costs and the fact that it is an old (still in business) business. It was THE easiest to start using. Knew what to watch out for with regards to usage like: dont steam your hand, maybe use an oven mit. Steam against a door, dont need a 'steam board'.
I like how fast it warms up and how long it will last. What i really marveled over was the job it can do! I still iron as i feel this is important but steaming....oh my gosh! it does FANTASTIC! It did my husband's Hawaiian shirts OK, may still iron those if i feel they need that razor-sharp look but in general.....the steamer doesnt care about how much fabric is sewn in one place and wrinkled....it just gets the wrinkles all out! So, i would totally recommend this steamer to my friends (as i already have) and steaming in general! Hope this helps.

Customer Review: Best bang for your buck!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

After a lot of research I purchased this Jiffy Steamer about a year ago. I can't speak more highly of it, it heats up quickly and after some learning how to use it I can steam a shirt within minutes. CAUTION... be very careful while you are learning how to use it because you will burn yourself. A great tip is an oven mitt works great to keep from burning yourself when you got to get in close to put pressure on the clothes. After trying to learn how to use it I did realize it was difficult without having something to be able to apply pressure against the clothes to get the wrinkles out of it. I went back onto Amazon and looking at a steamer board but for $200 I don't think so. So, what I did do is buy a door hanger so I could hang my ironing board against my closet door and use it as a steamer board and it works great and only cost me 6 bucks. Plus, I also purchased a over the door coat hook hanger to hang the clothes in front of the ironing board and that only cost another $5 bucks.
