Tools and Hardware Reviews of Jiffy Steamer J-2000 Residential Series 1300-Watt Garment SteamerCustomer Review: NOT TOO BAD Summary: 4 Stars
Its a good product. When i first bought this, I steamed everything.
But my use gradually tapered off. I did find other uses; had the steamer melt the tape residue that was stuck to a window.
The product quality is there. and if any thing is broken, you can actually order a specific part for the machine and replace it instead of throwing the entire machine out. I like that.
If anything, you should order the model with the interchangeable heads so you can use the machine to steam more than just clothes, such as mold/mildew and cleaning. it'll be more expensive but you can squeeze out more uses.
other than that, if you only need to steam clothes.. find a cheaper one with the clothes hanger bar. after all, as long as the machine produces consistent steam, its exactly the same but cheaper!
Customer Review: Mother in law approved! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this device for my mother in law after she saw and used at my house. I love this product and it does what it is meant to do - steam! This company just manufactures steamers and does it exceptionally well since 1940. It even use the steamer to unclog my stuffy nose in the winter time. I'm looking to upgrade the unit with the various accessories from jiffy.
Pro- less than 1 minute start up time
- easy installation
- low maintenance (just don't let the water run out of tank)
- great for fabric that you can't put iron onto (indian sari's, anything with ornament based dressing)
- portable
Con- don't steam in underwear as hose gets hot (do i have to paint a picture ;) )
- too many people want to borrow it

Customer Review: Worthwhile Purchase Summary: 5 Stars
After figuring out that I must be spending in excess of $1000 yearly to have my husband's oxford shirts cleaned and pressed, I decided to cut my losses and purchase a Jiffy steamer.
I am happy with the purchase, so much so that I routinely steam garments that I would not have ironed in the past (t-shirts especially come out looking store-bought new), and it takes very little time.
I have used the steamer on prom dresses with great success.
I am able to press a knife-edged crease in dress pants of all types of material.
I think the best thing about this appliance is that I feel I am damaging our clothing LESS than if I were using an iron.
Don't throw away your iron, however! I must still use it to finish off the collars and shoulders of my husband's work shirts.
Customer Review: Note heat-up times, if you're debating between the J-2000 and J-4000 Summary: 4 Stars
I haven't bought either item yet, but I think I would to start out with the "personal" J-2000 line. Thanks to everyone for reviewing the steamer! For those who might want to UPGRADE to the J-4000 (you do get more power and the extra attachments as one reviewer suggested), make sure to note that the commercial model has a 15-20 minute heat-up time (an important detail which is ommited in the item description), while the J-2000 is ready in about 2 minutes; so that the consumer version would be best for daily use (if you're on the go and always have to figure out what you're wearing for work at the last minute). The J-4000 seems best if you don't mind waiting for the steamer to be ready, if you're going to steam several items of clothing for future use, or use it for bigger jobs most of the time.
Customer Review: Not too shabby Summary: 4 Stars
Not a bad product. I mainly bought it for dress shirts, but failed to realize that it is very difficult to do the arms, yoke, and collar. However, it does save me a good amount of time by doing most of the shirt with the steamer and then "fine tuning" with the iron. So if you are planning to throw away the iron for dress shirts and pants, think again, but it WILL save you time.
Where this thing really comes in handy is EVERYTHING ELSE. I mean WOW. Regular shirs, pants, shorts, this thing is FANTASTIC. Since it only takes about a minute to heat up, I will steam pretty much everything I wear for the day. And the clothes seem to stay more wrinkle free during the day too. For the price, just buy it and give it a few days to get used to...but don't throw away the iron!
