Tools and Hardware Reviews of Jiffy Steamer J-4000 Pro-Line Commercial Garment SteamerCustomer Review: Better than ironing, but takes planning Summary: 4 Stars
The unit works as advertised on my button-down shirts and sure beats ironing. The unit can take a while to produce steam (depending on how much water you have in the tank), so you won't be using this 5 minutes before you have to leave the house. Additionally, shirts need to be left to dry a little right after steaming, otherwise you will wrinkle them immediately upon wearing. However, if I make the time to wash and hang a few loads of shirts, I can steam them all very quickly with this unit, which is nice.
Bottom line: Not good for individual shirts here and there, but awesome for batching a bunch at once. Also, proper technique can take some time, but then you can work quickly.
Customer Review: Excellent but you need the steam board Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this since i was tired of ironing my husband's shirts. I did not attempt to iron pants since it never came out well.
Now things are different with the Jiffy 400M steamer. I can even leave a crease by touching the metal steam head on the clothes. But my husband says that it does not have the same feel as the ironed and starched shirts. I have tried to spray some starch on it before I spray, it is difficult since it is hanging free. I am ordering the jiffy steam board from [...] since I hope to improve on the shirts. I now do the pants with the steamer and the pants look like they have been drycleaned. I helps if it is once dry cleaned and I keep it up with the Jiffy.
Customer Review: Not worth the price Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this product over the less expensive ones in order to get my hanging drapes really steamed out with a professional look. It didn't work....or, it might have if I'd have had several days and countless hours to stand with the small head barely moving over every inch of the fabric. It's also very heavy once filled with water. I haven't even bothered to try it on clothes, because I can't see that it would be any better. The big disappointment was the manufacturer will not allow returns on any opened box....so, duh? How are you supposed to check it out? Now, I'm stuck with a $200 steamer that's in the way. Anyone want to buy it?
Customer Review: It actually works Summary: 5 Stars
I was quite cynical about buying another steamer since the smaller models I'd tried dripped water on my clothes and didn't remove wrinkles. I went for the top-of-the-line model after some research and, lo and behold, it actually removes wrinkles. Clothes don't look crisp and perfect as when they come back from the drycleaners, but steaming will let me save a fortune and save the cleaners for actual cleaning.
The machine was easy to assemble, and the tank is easy to fill. The whole gadget has a pleasantly retro, basic setup, which is aesthetically clunky yet charming. It sturdiness is reassuring.
Customer Review: Great Steamer Summary: 4 Stars
I love this product. The only drawback is that it takes roughly 20-30 minutes to warm up. It's not a device you can use right before work. It works great when I do have the time. I'm glad I purchased the more expensive commercial model because the I don't get some of the problems with dripping water as with some of the less powerful home devices. The one think you really need to be careful with the steam because it gets everywhere. I found a couple of oven mitts extremely helpful while steaming clothing. I agree this sounds rediculous but if anyway has a better suggestion, let me know.
