We've owned the "EatSmart Precision Digital Bathroom Scale w/ Extra Large Backlit 3.5" Display and "Step-On" Technology" (or a very similar model)for some time now and have been quite satisfied with it.

When we wanted to purchase a second scale for our home, we were inclined to just get another one of these, but the Kintrex was a lot cheaper and seemed to get a good percentage of high reviews and looked attractive to boot, so we ordered this one, figuring that with Amazon's great return policies there wasn't much to lose.
Sadly, this scale doesn't live up to its claims. First of all the "Sense-On" feature, where you supposedly don't have to tap the scale before getting on, doesn't seem to function correctly. While one CAN step on the scale and turn it on, this method seems to provide the most inconsistent readings. Most often, the dial just constantly changes and doesn't "settle" anywhere--so you can't really get any stable reading at all. We tried tapping the scale (actually requires more than a gentle tap) to turn it on, then let it settle at zero.zero, then stepped on the scale. This seemed to be better and once in awhile the jittering display would stop and give you a reading.
In both modes, the problem of an ever-changing readout existed.
Additionally, this scale's readings were not the same as the "EatSmart". This discrepancy wouldn't be a big deal since who knows if either of them are right on in any absolute sense? But the inability to get a consistent reading from the Kintrex defeats the whole purpose of having a scale!
I can't explain the number of positive reviews for this item. Perhaps this one was defective? We'll either just order a different model or maybe just live with the one we have.
