Tools and Hardware Reviews of Karcher K50 Cordless Electric BroomCustomer Review: Long-term Review Summary: 4 Stars
JULY 10, 2005
It worked quite well for as long as it worked- and that was about a year. After that the battery died, and that was it.
UPDATE: November 10, 2010.
Changed the battery, after leaving it in garage for 2 years, and it works well again. I have changed my rating becuase
(a) It is still working after 5 years,
(b) It is quite well made and sturdy. When I opened it to change the battery, all of the moving parts were in very good shape. The replacement battery has lasted for more than two years now. I have a reason to believe that I got a bad battery first time.
Customer Review: Good enough to get another! Summary: 5 Stars
I thought a $... broom was a bit much but was tired of unraveling the cord and then wrapping back up again everytime I wanted to vacuum some cat hair or a small spill. After two weeks of using this very light weight and versatile cordless broom, I'm ordering another for upstairs. I use this more than a vacuum because I can grab it and pick something up and have it back in its rack before I can get the normal vac out. Don't expect it to suck something up, it just brushes it into a holding tray but it does the trick and is extremely easy to empty. A great product that should have been invented a long time ago.
Customer Review: Kinda handy w/ a design flaw Summary: 5 Stars
It works pretty well on the hardwood and slate floor. When you get to the carpet it picks up things that may have been tracked in. The issue is that it "flips" over when you're on carpet. This usually empties out all the waste onto the floor. Forunately it is good at picking up piles of waste so you can pick it back up again. I'm not sure if bigger wheels would work better or if it's where the handle is hooked to the base. 35 years ago I used a manual one carpet at a movie theater and it worked very well. I doubt it would work on the hard surface as well as this powered one does though.
Customer Review: OK, not miraculous Summary: 3 Stars
Seems to do a good job of picking up the cereal and cracker crumbs that the kids drop on the hardwood floor in the dining room. We didn't want to get the heavy vacuum out daily. It's good that the kids can use this themselves when they are so inclined, and not dent the furniture, since the base is all plastic. Truth is, we rarely use this. Even so, the metal pole started splitting where the two halves connect after about 5 uses. It may need some duct tape soon to hold it together. It holds a charge for a long time, I haven't had to plug it in much.
Customer Review: open your items as soon as they arrive. Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this item last year. When the item arrived I put it in the closet. I had a brother pass away and my husband had a stroke. I also have 5 children. When I
did get around to open the box ,there wasn,t a instruction manual and extension pole was missing. This is fine for my kids.I am 5'8" and then the charger fizzled out.I tried to contact Karcher ,they never returned my calls. Amazon said it was past 90 days.So now i'm stuck with a broom for a munchkin and a dead charger. Always check your purchase as soon as it arrives.
