I live in new york and i never thought i had hard water until i purchase honeywell warm mist, so yes they provide the mineral pad for a reason,and i'm certainly going to use it,because when i dont use it more work for me.so yes if you have hard water you definitely need this,yes i would recommend this.the mineral pad come in two stuck together, and thats is exactly how i use it and have no problem with the steam coming out. i change them every 3 to 4 days because its necessary.Customer Review: They seem to work...

They do seem to help with collection of minerals from the water you use. But, you still have to pay attention to the scale build up on the heating element. Do not let it build up, as it is really hard to remove it. Use white vinegar as least once a week to clean or soak the heating surface.
I also found that as it comes with two pads together; that was blocking the water from flowing into the heating area, so I just separated them and use one pad at a time.

I own the HWM-450 humidifier. Or maybe I should say "owned." It worked very well for me for most of two heating seasons, then went belly-up abruptly--right after I received (but never used) the replacement absorption pads. The original pads, which I'm pretty sure are identical to the replacements, worked very well. I found they could be re-used several times if soaked in vinegar and rinsed. They definitely seemed to help extend the time between cleanings.Customer Review: Good filter but impossible to purchase.

Filters for the Vicks humidifiers are Extremely hard to find even in stores that sell the Vicks humidifiers. When you purchase from Kaz ( as recommended by the manufacture) which is the only place to get the filters it takes weeks to get ( So far I have waited four weeks and they sent me the wrong filters). As of today we are at SIX Weeks and still no filters. Great Vicks humidifiers but extremely poor customer service/ support.Customer Review: Works as advertised

Bought a Honeywell humidifier last year which they don't seem to make anymore. As a result, I had a difficult time finding these pads locally. Ordered them from Amazon and got them in a timely fashion. The pads do work well though. If you take the pad out of the humidifier once a week and rinse it well, you'll get a longer lifetime from it. Most of the mineral deposits come right out.
