Tools and Hardware Reviews of Kidde 900-0107 Plug-In Carbon Monoxide AlarmCustomer Review: 5 years is about it. Summary: 3 Stars
It seems to have worked ok...as far as I can tell.
It was manufactured in Jan 2005 and it is about
Jan 2010 and it is defective. It will no longer
self test and throws off random chirps which indicate
that it is not functioning properly.
So, $35 for 5 years (or not..as I don't know exactly
when it failed)that is $7 per year.
What is it worth to you?
Is there a better option on the market?
I am going to purchase a new one from Amazon but not
before I check for a more robust unit.
Customer Review: not sensitive enough Summary: 1 Stars
I have owned this unit for about 6 years. I thought my family was safe. Well our furnace had a CO leak. Level of CO detected up to 70 ppm. The detector never went off. It isn't sensitive enough. It will detect levels at 400 ppm in 4 to 15 minutes (it says this on the back). The furnace repairman said to get a detector that could detect levels of 70 to 100 ppm at the minimum. I am buying a new detector.
Customer Review: Good warning product Summary: 5 Stars
I have this in my laundry room where the hot water tank and furnace are. One day I had my snowblower running warming up in the garage with the garage door open and the door going into the house was open a little, the snowblower was at the garage door and that set off the carbon monoxide alarm. So for me this worked great.
