My children's bedrooms are all upstairs. I thought I would be able to practice escaping from the upstairs bedrooms with the kids. We started to practice fire drills 2x a month. However, the ladder is a one time use only :( I didn't notice until I recieved the ladder in the mail and saw the warning in small print on the box.Customer Review: A very important item that I hope to never have to use

Be advised: You can't open this item all the way up, it is meant for one time use in an emergency. I'm okay with it being a one time use, just knowing it's there makes me feel safer. It seems like it will be easy to open and use. The product appears well made and sturdy. (Again, I didn't release the ladder).Customer Review: More information would have been helpful

It's impossible to know the quality of the product as it is a single use item. I didn't realize this when I purchased two for my home. They are here now, and as with all emergency equipment, we hope to never have to test them, but it certainly would be nice to do a test run.Customer Review: UPSTAIRS SAFETY

WE LIVE IN A HOME WITH NO ESCAPE ROUTE FROM THE UPSTAIRS AND IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY WE NEEDED A WAY OUT OF THE WINDOW.
THIS LADDER WAS BOTH VERY AFFORDABLE, EASY TO QUICKLY SET UP AND LONG ENOUGH SO IN CASE WE EVER DO HAVE TO USE IT NO ONE SHOULD HAVE ANY PROBLEMS.

This is probably great in the case of a real fire, but i bought it to be a fun ladder for a tree house. Unfortunately, when i pulled out the instructions it said it was for one time use only. We used it a few times, but it's not meant for constant outdoor use.
