Tools and Hardware Reviews of Kidde KN-COPP-3 Nighthawk Plug-In Carbon Monoxide Alarm with Battery Backup and Digital Display

Customer Review: Digital readout & peak level memory are very useful
Summary: 5 Stars

Because it has a numeric read-out and peak level memory, you can get a very good idea where and why you have the beginnings of a carbon monoxide problem. Insist on these two features.

Because it's a plug-in 110 volt model, you save on batteries. (9v backup battery will last for years, I hope.)

The manual is pretty good...includes useful tips & guidelines.

I found no problems or flaws.

Customer Review: CO detector is good insurance
Summary: 5 Stars

I originally bought this product at Home Depot, but returned it when I saw I could get two of them from Amazon for less than what I'd paid for one. Nice digital display, battery backup, versatile plug-in options (vertical or horizontal, high or low). Sleek design doesn't stick out from the wall too much, which makes it less tempting for young children to pull out of the wall, and easier to vacuum around.

Customer Review: Kidde KN-COPP-3 Nighthawk Plugin Carbon Monoxide Alarm
Summary: 4 Stars

Was recommended this product by my neighbor as I have a gas stove and gas fireplace. Read the other reviews and am concerned about others experiencing the unit to start beeping after a couple of months. So far, I have it plugged in and it has been on for about 1 month. It is working as expected. Will update review if it starts malfunctioning.

Customer Review: 7 year life - they mean it!
Summary: 4 Stars

Be forewarned, when they say seven year life, they mean it! Or rather, that's seven years from the date of manufacture, NOT the date you start using it. At the end of that seven years, it starts chirping enough that it's essentially garbage and you need to buy a new one. To be fair though, I'm not sure if any other detectors are better in this regard. It just caught us by surprise, that's all.

Customer Review: Battery Problem
Summary: 1 Stars

This product is a joke, the unit I have drains a new battery in a few hours, and it starts beeping during the night, asking for a new battery. The beep is so loud ...

Removed the battery? sorry, no battery is not an option, it will beep if there is no battery.

What can you do?

Please don't waste your money or energy on a product like this.
