If you would like to be woken up at 3 am every 6 weeks with a low battery siren, this is the product for you. I tried contacting Kidde customer support. A Web inquiry was never responded to. I called the 800-number at 2:05 pm (according to nist.time.gov). A recording said that they were closed for lunch from 1 to 2 pm.Customer Review: BATTERIES NOT AVAILABLE

THE UNIT WILL ALARM WHEN THE BATTERY IS ABOUT ONE YEAR OLD. IT'S PLUGGED INTO 110 VOLTS AND WILL STILL TELL YOU THE BATTERY IS BAD, EVEN WHEN IT HAS POWER. THE ONLY WAY TO SHUT THE THING OFF IS TO UN-PLUG IT. BATTERIES ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND, VERY POOR MANUFACTURE FOLLOW-UP WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS UNIT TO ANY ONE.Customer Review: Works Fine

We've had it in place for 3 months, and it works as promised. No false alarms or problems. This replaced our 7 year old nighthawk. They are programmed to expire in 7 years from the day you install them, another safety feature! When that day comes, it will read "Err", and you need to buy a new one. This alarm seems to be everything it claims to be. Initially plugged it in my garage until I brought it inside. The alarm went off when the garage door was closed too soon after our car was pulled out. I bought this before I read a great review on this product in Consumers Reports. I recently bought several Kidde Nighthawk Plug-in Carbon Monoxide Alarms/detectors
with digital display. Alhough not tested under battle conditions, I am impressed with the digital display. What could be any clearer? With battery back-up for power outages, it's an excellent buy for the money!!
