Purchased 4 of these units for a new home purchase and they work great! No false alarms in the kitchen, and I feel good about having them all over the place due to so many natural gas appliances, heater, etc.
The voice telling you which alarm is triggered could be louder, however, the alarm itself is loud enough to knock your socks off. I feel very good about this purchase.

Product works well, but the usable life of the sensor is 7 years or less. That appears to be normal for this type of detector, but you should check the date it was manufactured to estimate how long it will last. It should have been manufactured within a year of purchase. This is great, just like the one I am replacing. It is designed to only last 8 years, not sure why? Was able to attach it to the base from the other one. Thank goodness,I have never had a fire so not for sure how it works in an emergency but when testing it works fine. It talks which I think is important for children. I only recently learned that these alarms have a limited life span and must be replaced every seven years or so. When the product ages out, the alarm will start chirping every thirty seconds, and replacing the battery won't stop the chirping. Amazon's price was a considerable savings over my local home improvement store, and who can beat the convenience of ordering online?Customer Review: FYI

2nd Alarm my family has owned. Probably wouldn't have purchased again if the price weren't so reasonable due to the fact that the Alarm actually is programmed to fail after 7 years. At which time you have no choice but to purchase a new one. Both of mine failed within a day of each other. I do have peace of mind knowing that I am protected.
