I decided to buy this despite all the bad reviews because I mainly needed to cannibalize the rings for my existing keyring (I've lost a few of my rings) and this was the cheapest one I could find. The price should cue you in that you shouldn't expect great things, and this review is to confirm that.
My existing keyring (cost about $20 many years ago) is solid, easy to slide around, and all the mechanisms still work flawlessly despite it being at least 8 years old. THIS keyring on the other hand is noticeably different. The rings are smaller and made from a smaller gauge (not as thick). The ball that you put into the slot to attach the ring is also noticeably smaller, and I was concerned it would fall out of my older keyring, but no it works just fine. (So feel free to buy this thing for parts like I did.) The worst part is the mechanism you slide to get the rings on and off. It it sticks a lot, making it very difficult to open. Perhaps some WD-40 might help, but I'm not going to bother since I'm just taking the rings off it anyway. My advice is to spend a little more on a better keyring, it will last you much longer.
