Tools and Hardware Reviews of Kleer Drain 100 Instant Drain OpenerCustomer Review: Better than my plumber!! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband called me from Home Depot yesterday and asked me to get online to check out this product called Kleer Drain to see what people were saying about it. Naturally, I jumped right onto Amazon to check and there it is! Thanks to all of those positive reviews I called my husband back immediately and told him to buy it! We're a general contractor who built our own house 4.5 years ago. My son's bathroom shower had drained too slowly from the get go due to possible debris that entered the pipe during building. My subcontractor plumber snaked the pipe but that didn't even budge the problem. Over time the water drained slower and slower until I finally had my son stop using that shower altogether. He's been using the guest bathroom for the last couple of years. Well folks, tonight my son would finally have his bathroom back!! I prepped the tub using duct tape to cover the overflow and then called in my husband. I kept telling him to make sure he uses the shield and I would cover everything with an old towel once he was ready. He positioned the plunger over the drain and BAM! Splash! OMG!! My husband was so darn trigger happy that he didn't even clue me in that he was ACTUALLY going to do it right then!! I thought he was just lining it all up and then he'd tell me he was ready... But NOOOOOOO! Sludge went flying right into his face and up the 10-foot wall behind us and even hit the ceiling!! The mess on the wall and ceiling was pretty minor as the bulk of the sludge got my husband in his hair, face, and t-shirt! After quick examination, it was discovered that the sludge was in fact sand from the grout used when our tile guy tiled the shower! Nice... So... moral to this story: Don't let tile subcontractors work in your tub/shower without laying down a tarp and secondly, don't let trigger-happy people operate this "machine" without first hiding under a towel! LOL And YEAH!! It's so awesome to have a fully functional bathroom again!! Now to get a 17-yr old kid to learn how to clean one!
PS: For those of you who are thinking about using this product in a sink.... Don't do it! Sinks are easily cleaned out by removing the trap (elbow pipe) under the sink. If you plan on using Kleer Drain down the sink drain, there is a high risk of breaking that pipe. If the clog is in the wall, then remove the elbow and use Kleer Drain directly into the pipe in the wall under your sink. I clean out the bathroom traps at least once a year by placing a bucket under the sink and easily unscrewing the two ends of the elbow and then slide the elbow right off. I pass a rag through the elbow to clean the sludge out and then put it all back together again. It's just that easy. :)
