Customer Review: Easy install. Works fine.
Summary: 4 Stars

Product arrived from SmartHome very quickly. Easy install. The remote bell is only about 25 feet away (in the lower level, down an open stairway, no major obstructions between the house chime and the remote chime). It could be a tad louder but I think I can achieve more volume by switching the remote's sound to a single "dong" (from the existing setting -- "ding-dong") to better match with the house chime. There are six chime sounds to choose from, but the other four are kind of cheesy (I just want a bell to tell me someone is at the door...it doesn't have to play Yankee Doodle Dandy).

The only problem I had was that the transmitter is just a 1/4" too large to fit inside my house chime case. I solved the problem by mounting it (with the double stick tape provided in the kit) on top of the house chime case. It's not a problem since the house chime is about 7 feet off the floor on an 8-foot wall, i.e. it's up so high you'd have to be on a ladder to see the transmitter atop the house chime.

I'd recommend it although I can't vouch for how much distance and obstructions you can have between the remote and the house chime.

Customer Review: Installed easily, works great, exactly what I needed

After a lot of research and reading the other reviews of this product, I bought this doorbell extender through Amazon and it arrived quickly. I have a new house with a finished third level, and we couldn't hear the standard doorbell from all the way up there.

The directions were very good. I had to hook up three terminals of the existing doorbell to three wires of the transmitter that comes with the kit, which took about two minutes with a screwdriver. Both the terminals and the wires were clearly marked so there was no chance of error. I spent a few minutes more to dress up the installation by routing the wires and using the double-sided tape to affix the transmitter to the doorbell cover.

I plugged the receiver into an empty outlet on the third floor, and when I tested it out, it worked perfectly. I was worried about the distance from the transmitter to the receiver, but there's no problem at all.

I really like that there are no batteries to change or anything to maintain. I also like that it works immediately upon pressing the doorbell -- there's no need to hold it down or do anything different.

We love this! We checked out some of the wireless systems that you can get at the local home improvement stores. With those, you just stick the transmitter on top of the hardwired door chime and plug in the receiver somewhere else. All fine and dandy, but our dogs barking set them off! We definitely didn't want that. We would have a hard time figuring out if someone was at the door and the dogs were barking because of that or if they were just barking in general.

This was EXTREMELY easy to install (took less than 5 minutes to be completely working), and it works 100% of the time with the receiver on the top floor (it is going through quite a few walls). The hardest part of the installation was figuring out what chime we liked the best because you have quite a few choices. The one drawback is that you have to change the chime on the transmitter itself, not on the receiver so... if you want to change the chime, you may have to open up the hardwired chime to get to the transmitter. Not a problem for us because it is easy to open up our unit which is why I gave it 5 stars.

Customer Review: Extend a chime
Summary: 4 Stars

We have a small family room in the back, rear, corner of our house and could not hear the doorbell ring. I was going to add another doorbell but after trying to trace out the existing wiring in the attic and not being able to find the doorbell transformer,(its an old house), I decided to try the Extend-A-Chime.
I am amazed at how easy it was to install. I connected the three wires to my existing chime box and placed the sending unit on top of the chime box with the double sided tape that came with the extend a chime unit. I then placed the receiving unit in a spare electric outlet in the family room. The receiver works off of AC power, no need for any batteries. The transmitter gets it's power from the doorbell.
The transmitter is about 50 feet from the receiver and it works fine.

The only suggestion that I would have is a design suggestion. It would be much better if the type of door bell chime settings be placed on the receiver instead of the transmitter unit.

Customer Review: Works in basement and 3rd floor and with RC3253 Receiver
Summary: 5 Stars

I installed this on the first floor and put the enclosed receiver on the third floor (20 feet away). I set the transmitter chime to the Ding Dong front door ringer. I did not change the default frequency setting, which may be done by sniping different connectors with fingernail clippers. You would only need to change the frequency if there is interference.

I also purchased the RC3253 Plug In Chime Receiver and put it in the basement - which also works well (15 feet away). Even though the RC3253 receiver is able to produce many more chime sounds than the RC3200 receiver, it will only produce as many as the transmitter is capable of making. This is because the chime setting is in the transmitter and not in the receivers.

The chimes available with this transmitter are:

1. Dong
2. Ding Dong
3. Westminster Chime
4. Star Spangled Banner
5. Hail, Hail, The Gang's All Here
6. Jingle Bells
