Customer Review: Works well detecting oil leaks.

I use this along with UV oil leak dye (put it in the oil) to help me find the source of oil leaks in small engines, such as yard equipment, ATV's and motorcycles. It works quite well for this purpose when used in near total darkness. You must be able to get it pretty close to the leak, say at least 8-12 inches, for it to show up well unless you are in a really dark environment. It should work equally well for tracing transmission, radiator, and air conditioner leaks when used with the proper UV leak tracing medium.
It is too large to get into some engine nooks and crannies or around tight corners, for that I use a small flexible gooseneck UV light (narrow beam and more expensive).
No name brand on it, no batteries, and no instructions (you don't need instructions), but it is cheap and works well enough.
