Tools and Hardware Reviews of Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Gear Kit - Part #41A2817Customer Review: Sears replacement gear set! Summary: 4 Stars
The quality of service was exceptional. Received the product two days before the given delivery date. All components were as expected but the instructions were a little vague. It took about two hours from the time I started to the finish. This included setting the controls for the door lift and sensors. One suggestion, take the components off in order so you can replace with the new parts in reverse order.
Customer Review: Saved Me Some Money Summary: 5 Stars
I accidently discovered this kit while researching what could be wrong with my Chamberlain garage door opener. The openener is probably 15 years old and quit raising the door. You could hear the motor running, but it just wouldn't raise the door. I researched and found this kit. Checked my gears and sure enough they were destroyed. Replaced the gears in about a 2 hour job and the opener worked fine.
Customer Review: Repair was a breeze Summary: 5 Stars
I appreciate previous positive reviews on this product, which encouraged me to repair, rather than replace my GDO. The instructions that came with the product were clear and simple. I only needed to replace the large plastic gear, so skipped the part about removing the motor and worm drive. It took me about an hour. Next time it will be 20 minutes. This is a great product, and well worth the money.
Customer Review: All the repair parts I needed... and more Summary: 5 Stars
These parts were exactly what I needed (and more) to repair my damaged Craftsman door opener. I kind of wish you could buy just selected items - but the kit worked out fine and I spent about $25 instead of $100 to have someone else repair it... or perhaps $150 and much more time to purchase and install a complete replacement. Hardest part is getting things apart to get to the part(s) that need fixing.
Customer Review: A replacement part - with instructions! Summary: 5 Stars
I saved myself ~$75 in labor charges doing this myself. It's a COMMON issue with Craftsman garage door openers - The main gear set strips out. Mine seemed to have lasted a good 8 years, so I really can't complain. The cost of the gear kit was a lot better than a complete new garage door opener.
My only recommendation with DIY on this, is REMEMBER TO PLUG BACK IN ALL SENSORS!! OOps!
