As a Scout Leader, I have searched for the handiest light source available. The Photon II, although pricey comes awful close to perfect. It's small, much brighter than you'd expect, and you can take it anywhere.
It is especially effective inside the tent---I tied mine to the loop at the top and it filled the tent with enough light for conversation. It makes a great reading light, if you don't mind holding it in your mouth, and it is especially helpful late at night when nature calls.
Good feature is the snap on/off switch--so you don't have to keep applying pressure to the switch.
Bad feature is also the snap on/off switch. If you put it in your pocket on a keychain, sometimes it gets switched on and that runs down the batteries.
A powerful flashlight is the tool of choice for nighttime trail walking, but in a pinch you could use this little guy.
It's also handy around the house or in the car---anywhere you need a dependable source of light.

Ordered 2 of these from Amazon because they were cheaper than LRI website price. What arrived were NOT LRI brand keychain lights. The package was just a celephane wrapper not the true LRI cardboard package. The light is NOT as bright, and the switch cover is hard plastic not the softer poly on the true LRI! The photo provided shows the real LRI light notice the fine rings on the switch. The light I received has a smooth switch cover. Also the corregated BOX was just some cardboard folded over and apparently one of them came out during shipment that or it was never included! This package also contained items from 2 other auctions. Only recieved ONE of the keychains, but that is OK because I just threw it away as it is useless providing so few lumens. First time I have been disappointed with an Amazon purchase! I read a review before ordering and I did not head his warning that this was not an LRI, hope you don't make the same mistake.Customer Review: A Compact High-Intensity Flashlight

It is surprising how a tiny LED packaged in a small black plastic case can produce such a high-intensity-beam and a wide-angle-coverage light. Forget about carrying a bulky flashlight when you go fishing, camping or any outdoor activities. Take the Micro-Light and put it in your pocket or at home or in your car. The beam characteristic is such that in an experiment where I stood about 6-ft from the wall, it has a much brighter portion at the center with a diameter of about 2-ft, while the actual beam coverage extends to about 15-ft in diameter. So you can see alot in the dark when you turn this mini flashlight on. I like the design, not only because of the intense brightness it produces and the area it covers, but also its ease of use. A feature that users might easily overlook is there is a locking transparent on-off switch to allow you to leave the light on without having to keep pressing a button.Customer Review: Fantastic keychain light

This keychain light is great. I've bought ~ 12 or so over the past year. Unlike the lower quality similar looking products, they are super bright, can be locked on and have little chance of accidentally turning on (and killing the battery). The 2016 battery lasts a long time and is very affordable through Amazon or other on-line merchants. These make great, useful gifts that are a bargain. The packaging is nice as well. The Amazon Merchant that I purchased the last batch of lights from, "Super Deal", shipped me a no name knock off product that looked and performed like a .50 cent item, however following my email complaint they quickly mailed me 3 of the correct "LRI Photon Micro-Lights", hence the merchant made good on their error. As other reviewers have said, Photon is a great little light that I'm sure you will really appreciate it if you can get the "real thing" and not some cheap knock-off. I got mine thru Amazon, but did'nt notice that it was sold by some other company. As soon as my package arrived and I opened it, I saw that mine was a knock-off. Back in the box it went and off for a full refund. I went back on Amazon to see if they had this light available that would be "bought and sold" thru Amazon. It's there, I just had to look a little harder. I placed my order and hope that they are selling the Original Photon. If you get the real Photon, you will love it!! I will update this review to see if Amazon sends out the real thing or not..
Update: 03/04/11 Amazon did send the real Photon. "Good job Amazon".
