When installing under eave vents in colder climates, you want a vent that will aim the exhaust away from the house. Otherwise, the warm moist air will rise through your eaves and freeze onto the underside of your roof. This frost can accumulate, and can cause water damage when finally thawed.
This vent will aim the exhaust away from the house. Unfortunately it suffers from the flapper icing shut. This results in poor ventilation, and water condensing in the hose between fan and exhaust. You will want to install it in a place where you can see the flapper functioning, and be able to poke it with a stick if it is iced shut. You could remove the flapper, but this negates the nice anti-backdraft function, and will probably lead to water again condensing in the hose. The unit is kinda flimsy, so after installing verify the flapper still functions freely.
