Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko Oscillating Pedestal Fan with Remote Control, 18 Inches, 1854Customer Review: Quiet and SO powerful! But motor broke after 2 days. Thinking about re-ordering... Summary: 3 Stars
So I bought this fan with expectations of it being great, as I read almost every review. My apartment controls my AC and heat, and of course they are turning off the AC while it is still 85 degrees out and humid. I hate being sweaty, I hate humidity. So this has been awful. I prepared in advance by buying this fan last month.
It is a giant package, came barely still taped together, opened the package up and was able to assemble it without any tools in less than 10 minutes. Yeah, it was annoying with a ton of parts. But it wasn't bad. Although, I was really surprised that there is no mechanism to actually screw the base and pole together or the pole to the motor. It is a bit wobbly. And when it runs, it will tilt to the side a bit.
This is the first reason I wasn't too happy. I wanted to be able to move it around pretty easily by just picking up the pole at leisure. But you risk the base falling off, and the motor just falling over since it is so top heavy.
When I turned it on though it blew me away (funny, I know). But seriously it was only on the first setting and I was sooo impressed. It wasn't loud, it wasn't blowing papers around, it was just perfect. It was a really great constant airflow. And if need be the second and third settings would really get some movement.
I decided for the reasons that I bought the fan. Circulating air. This was really all that I was looking for. Id forgive the fact that I couldn't move it around. But a few days after I had it (and hadn't used it much) I needed to have it on to air out my new mattress pad. I kept it on low for 6 hours and by the end of the 6hours I realized it wasn't spinning anymore. Well the motor broke. Already. The light indicators were all on and working, just no motor.
I returned it and figured Id find a product that was better and that I could hope wouldnt die out on me again. Well I ordered that said product (spend double) and it arrived, and Im wishing I still had this working fan, because of how well it worked as a fan! The one I got barely has the same power on max that this has on level 1.
Im thinking I may actually order a second one and hope this motor isn't faulty. Because for the price. It is worth it.
(also a note on the remote. It does not have a button to turn on and off the oscillations. Can be annoying and defeats the purpose of having the remote.)
