Customer Review: Works well for a little while...

I bought this and spent the extra $30 over the cheaper tower fans thinking my price premium would buy me a longer life out of the fan. Turns out i was wrong. I had the same oscillating/clicking issue after just a month of use. now the oscillating gear is done and it either makes loud creaks & noises on oscillate, or it is stationary. At least it still works though!
it isn't as quiet as i'd expect either. Having seen some friends' fans from Crane & Honeywell, i know this could be quieter. Lasko isn't one of the better brands, there is just so many more of them out there...

When it came time to turn my neighbor on to this fan I was distressed to read the two reviews that were already published (both from purchasers who obtained theirs from other stores?). Last year I purchased two of these for my apartment in San Diego . . . and then the longest, hottest two weeks that we have seen in years hit. These two were operating 24/7, moved around a lot, etc. and worked flawlessly. They never got put away and I have used them to circulate air during the Winter as well and they are still cooking along flawlessly. We purchased a Honeywell Tower Fan and this Lasko fan. We use the Lasko in the bedroom. What a difference it is from a box fan. It is very very quiet. The sleep setting is perfect because you can choose how long to have it running after you go to bed. Even if we keep it on all night, I wake up in the morning not feeling like I've listening to a fan roar all night long. We can't use it on ocillate - it makes a sound when it goes back and forth. Even so, it still gives us both (and 2 dogs!) plenty of direct air flow without the ocillation feature. I JUST bought another for my office.Customer Review: Good While it Lasts...

I received a model just like this as a gift last summer and it worked great. However, one day towards the end of summer it totally died on me. I didn't have a receipt to return it to the store, so I contacted Lasko. All they could do is tell me to blow into the fan with canned air to clean it out. It didn't work and I was out of luck because I didn't have a receipt. They would not honor the one-year warranty without a receipt, even though I'm sure they could determine the date it was made via the serial number. If you buy this, definitely hang on to your receipt.Customer Review: It functions well, but what is with the beeping?

I'm kind of surprised only one other person has mentioned this *bleeping* beeping. It makes a great product completely average to me. The fan works well. The timer is a luxurious option that I have yet to use. The air output is sufficient. The oscillation doesn't click or creak like some of them do, but every time you push a button: BEEEEEP! Sometimes you need to adjust a fan at night. So why make your product's function sound loud enough to wake up the neighbors? Conclusion: great fan for the living room, not so great for the boudoir.
