Tools and Hardware Reviews of Lasko 3520 20-Inch Cyclone Pivot FanCustomer Review: Good Value Summary: 5 Stars
Bought this as a replacement for a similar fan for use to ventilate a window-less laundry room with two dryers in our condominium building. The other fan (purchased at Ace Hardware store) had a detacheable connecting cord, with the female plug at the fan housing being a very miniature size. Unknown hands had disconnected this plug (for unknown reasons) and then damaged the male pins in trying to re-connect it. Shoddy design.
This fan has a permanently connected power cord. It is relatively quiet, even at the highest speed setting. The fan subassembly can be tilted in the base, and retains its position by some ratchet mechanism. This is an additional plus in our installation because we can angle the discharge air blast up a little (the fan is mounted in a wall opening maybe 4 feet off the ground), minimizing the effect on people entering through the building access gate on the garage level, through which we are trying to exhaust the humid air.
Customer Review: A real breath of fresh air! Summary: 5 Stars
The Lasco 20-inch fan moves a lot of air! Don't plan to place it anywhere near loose papers. I purchased it to help cool my garage in the evening, so I don't care if the fan is noisy. I only care that it moves cool outside air into the garage and blows out the hot stuff. I already had two fans working out there, and hoped a third would help me get ahead of the accumulated heat. The Lasco fan does the job all on its own so I've retired the original two. I have a large 3-car garage with a 15' ceiling -- there is a lot of air to move. The fan has 3 speeds: high is very powerful, medium is powerful, and low still moves more air than the average fan. Because it is very powerful, there is definitely a fan 'hum' which to me is the comforting sound of a fan doing its job. If you are looking for a fan that will do the job quickly, though not silently, you cannot do better than this.
Customer Review: Solid Fan Summary: 5 Stars
The tilt on this fan is very handy, it does a great job cooling down our two story home. I bought this fan thinking it would help get cool air from downstairs upstairs and it works great. I can place it on our stair landing and tilt the fan up to match the angle of the stairs.
This fan moves a lot of air, much more so than a 20" box fan and the tilting makes this much more flexible. Having the option to make a wall mount is also a nice feature. My only gripe about this fan is its somewhat short cord, at only 5 feet long you may want an extension cord.
Customer Review: I'm a fan of this fan Summary: 5 Stars
Outstanding fan! Has tons of power and seems to be durable. One of ours has been around since about 2004 or so and the other since 2006. In the past 2 years the air conditioner in the house hasn't worked as well as it used to so the fans have been on 24/7 in the summer months and they still work great! Only drawback, naturally,is TV watching is tougher with such loud, powerful fans.
Customer Review: Great fan- Just a little loud Summary: 4 Stars
Had the fan for about three weeks. It has run constantly to equalize temperature between rooms during hot summer months. These fans move a much larger volume of air than the vertical "stick" fans and are far more efficient. However, there are two drawbacks. 1) They take up more space than the vertical fans and 2) they are louder, especially when comparing highest settings.
